RB Antonio Pittman (Official Thread)

One more stat of note. Pittman has a 6.34 ypc average while only having two rushes of more than 20 yards. If that doesn?t spell consistency I don?t know what does.

edit: if you take away both of those runs his average is still a very respectable 5.43 ypc

You can't take away from one if you dont take the long runs away from everyone.

I remember getting criticized on this forum for saying Pittman was the 2nd best back in the nation behind Peterson going into the season. Looks like some people are starting to come around.

I've been on the record for a long time that Pittman is on the short list of best running backs in the nation. I never understood why people around the country, and especially a lot of Buckeye fans, did not or do not want to admit that. That being said, I think it's a slight stretch to declare him the second best running back in the nation.

I don't see Wolfe going ahead of Pittman. True, Wolfe had a huge day against us, but nearly all his big plays--both rushing and receiving--were plays out wide...he did jack shit in between the tackles. Pittman can run right over the center and bust it out wide with equal effectiveness. I also don't recall seeing Wolfe break a single tackle...Pittman breaks tackles every other carry. Not slamming Wolfe at all, but I don't think he's in the mold of a pro RB like Pittman is.

100% agreed. No way will a team use a first or second round pick on Wolfe b/c he could never be the feature back of an NFL team. At best, he'll be a Dave Meggett-type, catching passes out of the backfield, running the ball every once in awhile on sweeps, and possibly returning kicks and punts. Pittman has a much, much brighter future in the NFL.

I think a more comparable person to Wolfe is Sproles, who used to play at Kansas St. I'm not sure if Pitt is a 1st round back or not........he relies a lot on getting to the outside, and in the NFL......the ends are much faster than in college. He'll need to become more of a north/south runner if he is going to be a first day NFL pick.

Don't get me wrong folks, I love Pittman........the guy is one of my favorites on the squad this season. I just don't think he's there yet.....he may be very soon, but as of right now he's not.
