Definately see what you're saying. Alvarez already gave up the coaching aspect once, and not like I'm close to the situation, but I certainly haven't heard he misses it.

The subject came up on just about every radio and tv show out here when he took the AD job. The overwhelming consensus at that time was that he wouldn't be able to stay away from coaching for more than a year or two at most. Haven't heard much since, but it was mentioned so often by people who know him that it's worth taking for what it's worth.Buckeyeskickbuttocks;652069; said:

I don't understand how former athletes expect to be handed a job like this with no coaching experience whatsoever. I know that the NBA does it, but the NBA sucks, so it's ok. You can't go into a high profile coaching job, or most low profile ones, and not get eaten alive by the machine that is college football.

I voted "other" for Bernie, Bernie. I guess he is the Spielman of their coaching search. As I can't stand da U, I will be happy if they made the dumbest decision possible. Bernie is a smart guy, so I'm surprised he would even entertain this. I think he's just garnering some plublicity for himself... maybe trying to sell a few more of his greeting cards.

I'm looking at some of the names posted and trying to get an idea of who could fit.
U Miami is tres expensive, seems to have high academic standards, has no ability to travel (ie no one in Miami wants to pull their ass out of the beach sand and plunk it down in, say, Arizona, where they might have to wear a jacket to stay warm. Has a rich tradition of thugs with bling-bling standing on the sidelines during home games giving the image of a program run by people named Gino, Snoop and Notorious. Has an incredible power to attract future NFL stars. Has been blessed by fantastic X and O guys at the head coaching spot, guys who I think winked at the rules.
Shalahla would know Alverez from his Wisconsin days and with out getting too far into lible land let me just say that people I know, who ought to be in the know, have indicated that Barry has baggage that has been hushed up.
Donna may not want him around.
Tuberville would be a fool to give up Auburn. Excellent facilities, great fan base, rich tradition.
My personal opinion: Miami is looking for someone in the pro ranks, impress the kids, fuck academics, NCAA rules and public decency, just win baby.
