Actually, I was thinking Mullen would be a good target for your team - especially if Harbaugh is off the table for one reason or another. One of the objections with cutting RichRod loose is the idea that he changed the entire program from a philosophical standpoint, and that most coaches would have to tear it all down and start from scratch again. With Mullen, that may not be the case quite as much. Any coach that comes in to replace Rodriguez is going to have to blow it up to some extent just because of the dearth of talent and disarray that the program is in. Mullen seems to me like the type that could find some useful parts in the scrap heap, while a guy like Harbaugh would probably have to blow it up completely.

Then again, Mullen is actually a PA native, maybe he's waiting on Paterno to finally kick the bucket.

He could be a good fit. I would just prefer a coach that puts heavy emphasis on defense and special teams. The spread can work but just don't run the qb 30 times a game. I like the way Oregon uses their spread. I was just curious about D.Thomas and he only has 84 rushes through 11 games. That's only about 7-8 carries a game for the qb.

I do like how Harbaugh runs his offense at Stanford. It will take awhile to get the bigger/stronger players at Michigan. If Harbaugh is hired.....people really need to be patient. It could take a while to get back to being "Michigan" if that is even possible again.

It's always that way.

People want instant results, but you have to get the personnel for your schemes in place. I don't know about NCA/scholarhisp rules, but it would suck to like get rid of kids - not nice at all.

WHen a new coach comes in, ya gotta give him at least 2-3 years to get the personnel in, the staff in, recruiting going, etc...

Shit - my eyes are criossing...mebbe I should back off the Ketel One for a littel whilke...

Um, save the Dickrod funnies - if they hire Dickrod, I'm finding a cliff to drive off of. In Florida, that would be a LONG ass drive...

You could just try and ramp off one of the landfill mountains we have down here. That might work. :wink2:

The U will be a pretty tough sell to a big name guy. That said, there are a lot of positives, if you find the right guy. There have to be a lot of young guys, assistants or coaches at Mid-majors, or in the other divisions, who see the big time potential of Miami, the weather's not bad either

If I remember correctly, they offered, or were at least very serioiusly considering JT a few years before he was hired here.

Perhaps some Ohio State assistant would be considered for the job...

I put in Fickell's thread that he would be a good option. Recruits Ohio, South Florida and Mid-Atlantic (ACC Territory). Bring him in and you get automatic in roads in Ohio's fertile land, that paired with some good coordinators and assistants and they could put together something special.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Good head-coaching experience too for a possible Buckeye heir to Tressel.

I agree that Fickel or a coach like him could do very well at Miami. Someone who stresses defense and discipline, with a ball control, opportunistic offense, combined with the talent available in south Florida, and they could become a power again, real quickly.

Sorry guys. Fickell doesn't have the requisite swagger.
