I went there when I was in Paris, I felt like the dude in Airplane! running through all of the religious nuts wading through the crowd of begging gypsies. Europe would be so much better without them.April 15, 2019 a fire ravaged the Notre Dame Cathedral
April 17, 2019: French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to have the site rebuilt in five years
A restored Notre Dame Cathedral is unveiled days before its official reopening
The famed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is set to reopen next month for the first time since a devastating fire crippled the beloved church in 2019.
The French president also thanked the 340,000 financial donors that have contributed nearly $1 billion collectively toward Notre Dame's restoration.
The church will open its doors to visitors and worshipers with ceremonies beginning on Dec. 7, 2024.
My wife is the opposite of yours, she always told me not to be a soft hearted sucker. We didn't spent too much time together while we were there. She spent all of her time in museums and other touristy sites. I preferred to take walks off of the beaten path, eat in bistros and smoke cigarettes with the locals as a cat jumped into my lap and the owner's dog starred at me with those "give me food eyes". The French are really quite Earthy once you get to know them.Wife and I visited about 3 months before the fire. Januaryish. Had a snack across the river, with ND in window. Beautiful. Saw the same folk you did asking for coin. Said no, they moved on, wife ran after her, and gave a few Euros. Saw that the Cathedral had reopened. Anyone been to see it yet? Surprised they could find that level of craftsmen/women these days. Glad, though.
Just noticed your reply. Not a putting green just a front pasture. It was a beautiful 2 acres with a large garden, barn, pig pens, chicken coops.... It was a relic leftover from the days when people grew most of their food. There was a country store nearby that sold raw milk, meat, eggs and produce from the local farmers. The building still standsDubs, believe that anything in the LA basin has two commas in it's value. Daughter wants to move back to LA (went to school at BIOLA), but pointed out that she cannot afford to rent there, much less buy. She's in a townhouse in C'bus that we own, and has gone up in value about $125k since she's been there, three years. Anyway, I especially like the countryside house. Is that a putting green off to the left?
