Random Observations - Games of 10-15-11

MaxBuck

SoCal, Baby!
1. Best two running backs I saw yesterday: Dan Herron and Cyrus Gray (aTm). Gray is incredible; he's almost Barry-Sanders-like in his elusiveness. Herron combines elusiveness with a nice burst and immense power for his size. For all I read about Carlos Hyde (whom I like a lot), he's not our power back - Herron is.

2. Brock Osweiler looked terrific at QB for ASU while I was watching the game. Apparently he looked like poodle turd after I switched it off.

3. Jerel Worthy and William Gholston (Sparty) are the best one-two punch of D-linemen I've seen in the nation. Very impressive.

4. Kevin Wilson is in way over his head as IU coach.

5. Bret Bielema continues to be a dickhead. Why use a trickeration play against the hapless Hoosiers? Why not save it to use against a competent team?

I think it's more practical than anything. Run it against Indiana, and MSU has to be conscious of it. It slows backside defenders' pursuit to the runner. They will have to commit someone to Wilson all the time.

Trent Richardson not good enough?

You must not have seen Trent Richardson play....

I'd take Simon and Hankins any day. Though the two above are good ones for sure.

He'll show no mercy against us if given the chance

Completely agree. I liked the call a lot. Tressel did the same in the past. The reverse pass with Ginn to Nichol vs. the same Hoosiers, the reverse pass with Posey to Sanz vs. New Mexico State, and the halfback pass with Hall to Pryor last year vs. Eastern Michigan come to mind.

He's just making Dantonio spend a little bit of time on that play. Every second practicing against some trick play instead of Wisconsin's power run game is a victory for Wisky.
