So just how long did you know her personally ? Just curious as to how you know she is a bad person, or just did some things you didn't like?

She just basically did things that I didn't care for, and when she left she made it out like she was in hell to be here and St Louis was the greatest thing that could have happened. If not for a luck streak with Marsall Faulk and a bagboy that happened to have a couple good years throwing the football you would have St. Louis people dancing on her grave too.

well, that's how football works. The media can gush about the Pats all they want and how "smart" they are, but basically they got lucky with a 6th round pick. It happens.

Second, LA MUST have been hell, since nobody else has even come close to coming there since she left. There must be a reason no team is in the 2nd largest city in America. The residents just don't care about pro football. This isn't like Modell leaving Cleveland (even though the fact that he won in Baltimore proved that he was correct - he couldn't win as long as the city was too cheap to give him a new stadium)

Err... No, I am aware how often she was in the media, I know how she treated the city of Anahiem when she couldn't sell out the Colloseum and they let her move into The Big-A, where the Angels play, and she complained about that. I know how she always demanded the city renovate the place for her instead of actually going into her own pockets. I saw how she traded E.D. and told everyone how the stars told her to, she was a very vocal woman.

I don't know her personally, I just know that Southern California bent over backwards to try and keep the Rams here.

Well the problem is that the Colaseum is a fucking dump and no one will let a pro team play at the Rose Bowl. Besides that, LA is pretty much suck ass sports fans who only want a winner. We have the Lakers, but now you can go get seats, they sell out most of the time, but that's starting to become less frequent.

When the Raiders were here, they couldn't sell out the Stadium, and no one would let Al Davis play in Orange County. The Rams though, that was a different story, the thing is, people went out of their way to try and keep them here, like they are doing in San Diego right now for the Chargers, they came up with a smaller place to play, in a nicer area, and when they couldn't sell that out it wasn't that the product on the field was crap, is was that the city wouldn't support it's team.

I'm no Browns fan, but from what I recall, that's a fairly specious bit of reasoning. Modell effectively did everything he could to run the Browns organization into the ground, from bad coaching moves to grossly overpaying for a player (Rison) to come in as a free agent (which he did so that he could publicly whine about being cash-strapped after signing him to a $15+ million deal).

But despite all of Modell's screw-ups, the Browns fans continued to fill the stadium and support their team. After he realized he couldn't shake the fans off the team (they kept buying too many tickets to the home games so that the Browns never reached a low enough level that he could receive approval from the NFL to move the franchise), he basically decided to force his way to Baltimore for a sweetheart deal that would give him some quick cash and make it easier for him to sell the team for top dollar. He just so happened to be lucky enough to win a Superbowl along the way.

As a non-Browns fan I still greatly dislike Modell for the cheap tactics that he deployed at the expense of the city of Cleveland and the Browns' fan base.

Actually, the big issue was that he owned the old stadium and when the Indians moved to the Jake, he lost his big cash cow. As we all know the old stadium was a dump and Modell basically wanted the city to build him a new stadium and pay for it all, while he got fat off the deal. I don't think the city actually thought he would move or they probably would have worked harder at making some kind of a deal. This book gives an excellent view of the whole thing, although the reading is pretty dry:
