I just read many of these to my wife. Being South African, she has kind of pieced together what The Game is about and understands the nature of the rivalry, but she kept shaking her head and roaring with laughter, saying "too true, too true". She definitely understands the axe and tree story and the sentiment about the shame it missed the house!:biggrin:

She reminded me that whenever there is a rugby game on TV, which looks like football to my 8 year old, she asks the nearest adult, "which one is Ohio State?"

The Springbok rugby side recently got waylaid by the Aussies. Hearing me discuss it on the phone with a colleague while on the way to school, she politely waited until I hung up and then said, "Don't worry Daddy. We're Buckeyes anyway."

I guess that about says it all!

Actually, my parents both attended tOSU, but never really displayed a great pride for the school, and are barely into the games, at all. My grandma and grandpa both went there, too, and they aren't really into it, either.

I guess the reason(s) that I'm so in to Buckeye sports is because I was born in Dublin, and my family has gone to the university, going back generations. I also guess, it's due to my competitive nature, too.

Whatever it is, all I know is I was born to sport scarlet and grey, and I can't think of anything better than that.

We typically don't swear in our hose. The wifey has a trucker mouth but she keeps it pretty well contained whilst the rugrats are around. However, we know that they will eventually swear and we would like for them to do it effectively. The only swear word the ten year old is allowed to say is "damn" and that is only in the propper context. As in, we don't give a damn for the whole state of Meatchigan.

This is great! I knew I had a true Buckeye the day my son came home from pre-school (pre-school that is) with a note from the Teacher stated that he refused to use the colors blue and yellow on a color by numbers picture. She asked if we would allow him to use these colors, my first thought was no. However, it was for school and if is to be an official Buckeye someday I made the exception for Grading purposes only.

The funny part is that the teacher is a huge Buckeye fan as well and she signed the bottom of the note GO BUCKS!

Three quick stories.

My wife has family near Detroit. We have been invited to visit up there. I refuse to visit the state of Michigan and give them one cent of money.

My brother works at a car dealership in Huntington W.Va., he had two elderly Michigan residents drive down to pick up a car. He knew they were in route; so he went to Wal-Mart and purchased an Ohio State window cling and put in on the back window for them to drive back to Michigan.

The same brother has a 12 year old smart ass step son that roots for Michigan for the sole purpose(s) of being different / obnoxious. He is the only nephew that does not get a birthday gift from my wife and I. Is that too over the top ? He knows what he is doing.

I reckon that you only need to brainwash a kid when you're trying to convince them of something they would otherwise know is not true.

Supporting the Buckeyes is the right thing to do, even a two-year old knows that!:biggrin:

But then they gave up a couple of late touchdowns and then it went into 3 overtimes. She said that she was afraid I was going to have a heart attack, and she was afraid that the big fat guy next to her (not me - the other big fat guy on the other side of her) was going to get too excited and squish her. She hasn't been to a game since.
