Question About The Scout Cincinnati Combine

ThaKid101

Junior
I didn't know where to put this so I'll ask here and hopefully I can get some help...is the Bengals practice facility actually in Cincinnati? It may sound like a dumb question but an example of something like this is the Bears. Halas Hall isn't in Chicago. I believe it's in Lake Forest....so is it (The Bengals)? If so, is it close to the Greyhound station in Cincinnati and how could I go about getting a cab to a hotel from the station that's close to the facility? Also, any advice on what cab services and hotels are the cheapest and the cost? I REALLY need some help and thanks in advance to anyone who can help me...

EDIT: And just to throw in a recruiting subject since this is the recruiting forum, who are some of the top prospects (Ohio and otherwise) scheduled to attend (If some of you know)?

It's a fair question considering the location of the Cincy Airport.

ThaKid,

If you stay in a downtown hotel then you could walk to the Paul Brown Stadium practice field. It is located right downtown on the river right next to the stadium. Hotels downtown might be more expensive than if you stayed somewhere outside of downtown. As far as Cab companies go they all have the same rates as the rates are set by the city or so a 30 year cabbie informed me. The current rate is $2.25 to pick you up and $0.30 for every 1/8 of a mile. (Or so I am told)

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. To the other poster, I'm not flying there I'm taking the Greyhound. So...any advice for a cheap hotel I can stay in and a cheap cab company I can call?
Just be careful about going cheap on hotels. There are parts of Cincinnati you definitely don't want to stay in.

Hotels

What are you looking to spend on a hotel?

Priceline.com has an option where to you can see the prices/names of hotels...so checking in on 5/16, checking out on 5/17

medium walk (5-10 blocks)
-- Millennium (3 star) = $129
-- Hyatt (3 star) = $199
-- Terrace (2 star and I have never heard of it) = $99

medium, long walk
-- Marriott (on the river, but on the KY side, it's probably a 20-30 minute walk to the stadium, but it's 4 stars) = $179
-- Embassy Suites (same situation as the Marriott, 3 stars) = $189

cab ride
-- Days Inn - Ft. Wright (5 miles from Paul Brown, between downtown and the airport, 2 star) = $49

** Warning -- the priceline grouping "Downtown Cincinnati" includes hotels that might be ~5 miles of downtown (especially the 2 star locations), so if you aren't careful you could end up with something that is a way away (but taxis from any of these hotels to the stadium should cost you less than $10)

With that in mind, you could use the regular priceline service and try to name your own price. You might bid:
4-star/downtown Cincinnati/$90 -- and get the Marriott
3-star/downtown Cincinnati/$75 -- and get the Hyatt
2-star/downtown Cincinnati/$30 -- and get the Days Inn

Oh yeah man, I'm from Cincinnati myself, and honestly you can stay right across the river in Covington, KY for a little cheaper than staying in downtown Cincy. You can even see downtown from Covington. That's a thought for you too, and cab rides won't be too expensive.

You can even park along the river on the KY side and walk across the river to Cincy.

Another vote for looking in Covington. It's close and there's a larger selection of places to stay these days than right downtown.

Just be sure to use the bridge. Just because Katt can walk on water doesn't mean you can.

Thanks to all you guys for the information...I'm aware there are some very tough parts of Cincinnati but I'm from the "Low End" on the Southside of Chicago, so I doubt I'll see anything I haven't seen before or be put in a situation I haven't been in before...

Again, thanks a ton to all of you guys. A lot of helpful info in this thread...I think I might go ahead and go with the Terrace Hotel, even though it's $94. I need to stay somewhere very close (It says Paul Brown Stadium is right outside the hotel) because I don't want to go too far...

OK the Terrace is at the intersection of 6th & Vine. It's the letter "A" on the map.

Easiest thing to do is to just take Vine south towards the river. You'll be able to see the stadium once you get past Ft. Washington Way.

If you look at the bottom left of the picture you can barely see 3rd Ave in Covington. That is where the majority of the hotels are on the KY side.

The Bengal's practice facility is on the west side of Paul Brown stadium and just to the NE of where the CW Bailey bridge terminates on the Ohio side.

The CW Bailey bridge has a pedestrian walk way as well...so if you do decide to stay on the KY side your walk won't be much different than coming from 6th.

Good luck & be sure to try a 5-Way while you're in town!

Covington is by far your best bet. While there, take a trip down 75 to Bone Lick State Park.

Sorry...had to throw that in there.

As for the 5 way... Gold Star > Skyline
