Question about Schottenstein seating

bsmith25

Newbie
I have never been to the Schott (I am from KY) but my girlfriend is a huge Buckeyes fan and from Columbus but never been to the Schott either. Im tryin to get her 2 tickets to the OSU vs Illinois game on 01/23 for Christmas. I have heard there really is no bad seat in the house except maybe section 331 or close by but I don't know if thats true or not so I was wondering if these options are good seats or if I'm just wasting my time. These are my ticket options that I have found on the internet since I missed the date they went on sale:

Section 322. Row J
Section 323 Row L
Section 306 Row Q
Section 304 Row H

Seems to me that 304 would be better since it's the closest row but that's why I'm posting on here, if anyone could help me out that be great! I know they wont be great since they are in the 300's but I'm just lookin to see if they are somewhat decent. Thanks so much and also, if anyone knows of any tickets for sale in the lower 2 sections that are under $200 for the pair, let me know! Thanks again, any help would be appreciated!!

I have no idea about seating but I am sure that one of the other posters on the board can answer your question.

It is nice to see that in your relationship one of the people has some brains and it is not you:wink:

I'd expect 304 row H or 322 row J to be decent seats, though as you recognize not great ones.

They often have $10 day of game tickets for sale at the box office an hour before the game. Of course, that is probably not fitting with your plan but if you want cheap tickets in the lower bowl, that may be your best bet.

oh okay thanks. Do you happen to know what sections those tickets cover or are they like student section tickets?

If you get seats in the upper bowl, I would try to stay in on the sides of the court in the 304-307 or 321-324 sections. The end sections tend to get a bit far from the opposite hoop. Most lower bowl seats are excellent.

If you or your girlfriend are short, use caution purchasing tickets in the 114 or 131 sections on the ends. The slope in these sections is very gradual and if you have someone significantly taller than you in front of you, your view could be the back of their head. This is not a major concern in the first 5-6 rows, but further back, this can turn into a major issue especially if you are in the middle of the section directly behind the hoop. Unless I'm in the first few rows, I would prefer to sit further away in the permanent seats. Note seats in those sections start with row AA to something like HH. Row A in those sections is even with the first row of the adjacent corner sections.

Wow thanks. That's a great help! Adding to that, I went ahead and bought tickets in 324 Row A seats 19-20. But today I saw a pair of tickets for section 131 Row S were being sold and were about the same price. Should I try to resell my 324 tickets and get the 131 tickets? I was afraid to sit on the ends of the arena even lower section in fear of being straight lined and not bein able to see much on the opposing end of the court. Or should I just take the 324 tickets and stay where I am? Thanks for everyone's help so far!!

Row S in 131 might be in the permanent seats in that section. Those seats have the same slope as most of the other permanent seats in the arena and should have a good view. With all of the 100 level seats in the end sections, the stantion and backboard will block a bit of your view. Generally this is just a minor annoyance, but f you sit close enough the stantion can block your view of the near and far ends of the court. I wouldn't think this would be a big deal in row S.

I haven't sat in the upper bowl in several years, but if row A is on the rail of the upper deck, I would say the seats are similar quality. 324 will give you the better overall view, but 131 will get you a bit closer to the action and hopefully a great view of a Sam Thompson dunk.
