The first 4-5 episodes were really good. I felt the ending was stretched and weaker.

I found the “everyone she’s ever met along the way” gathering in an apartment in NYC to help her defeat the evil Russian via a phone call ending quite cheesy and stupid. It makes no sense that they would all be in an apartment in NYC (what, did Benny call them all up and invite them over? how did he get their number?) and it makes even less sense that 3/4 of them would be able to contribute anything useful and get time on the phone with her, especially the twins. I’m sure the kids who ran local tournaments in Kentucky and dropped out of competitive play years ago have useful things to say about beating the best player in the world. And although Beltik made significant contributions by teaching her how to study and prepare for games, he literally said earlier in the show that she had advanced beyond his level and he couldn’t teach her anything else. But everyone is a special part of this and gets to say something to her on the phone call!
