QB1 Luke Fahey (Official Thread)

Charting Fahey throws from that video:

He threw from the pocket 30 times, completed 16. Thirteen went for four or more yards; 10 of those went for first downs. 3 Drops. 2 Bad throws.
He threw after scrambling 7 times. completed 4. All four went for four or more yards; 3 of those went for first downs. 1 drop. 1 desperation heave as time expired, but no truly bad throws.
He threw while rolling out 1 time. completed for good yardage and a first down.

Scrambled for good yardage 3 times, 1 of those called back for an unrelated penalty.
Ran sneaks 3 times. 2 were successful
Two sacks, both from behind (he'll adjust).

This is enough to say that he was clearly more successful throwing the ball while on the move. Roll this man out more. Roll him out like your job depends on it.
Well. I’m glad to be out done. Great analysis.

I instinctively thought he moved well in the pocket. He has a very good knack of escaping pressure finding room and making the throw. He was high a few times and was caught from behind a few other times (as you point out).

But what I was impressed with was if not for those 3 drops he likely has another 100 yards and another 2 TDs (Bo Jackson and McQuin). But even his misses he made the right decision but just missed.

For example his throw that was too much for McQuin that was wide open. Yeah would’ve been nice had he made the throw but dammit he at least saw it. Same goes for the throw that was just a tad bit too much for JJ in the back of the end zone. He was maybe 1 foot too high or that’s a touchdown. He’ll get there.

I do want to address the clip by Zach Smith of Luke missing McQuin on a stop and go. He didn’t miss him he checked down to West because he was about to get planted in the ground. I like Zach’s stuff but this was a pretty dumb take. There wasn’t time to wait for that stop and go to develop.

C.J. Stroud gives Buckeye fans a reason to believe in Luke Fahey

When asked about his alma mater losing to USC, Stroud says he saw some good things that Fahey was able to do against the Trojans.

"I think they have a great chance. One thing that Coach Day always preaches is fight. It's never as bad as it seems or as good as it might seem. I believe that culture there. We're built on culture. It's Ohio against the world. I think Luke Fahey's going to be a great quarterback."
