QB1 Julian Sayin (National Champion)

I want Julian to be great, but don’t underestimate the things that can happen in season.

Day has also said they’ll have packages prepared for Kienholz. And Lincoln is built a little different mentally….i don’t think he’s quite ready to pack his bags.

I’d let this play out a bit more, IMO.
You certainly know more about what goes in with the program than I do, but I've always thought that Sayin was a virtual lock to win the job simply because I've seen no indication that he's a statue to the point where it's a problem, he's widely reported to be more polished with a quicker processor and release than Kienholz, and I don't think that Day will ever prioritize athleticism over those things when choosing a QB unless he has an OL that can't pass protect at all, which seems unlikely, and he has to change everything out of desperation.

I'm not bagging on Kienholz at all, and I think he'll get some decent playing time this year, but barring a significant injury to Sayin (which is certainly always possible) or Sayin just not being as good as we think he will be, he'd be backing up Sayin for two seasons, and that seems unlikely to me, especially if St. Clair shows progress towards being what people say he can be during that time and he's not likely to be the man for his fifth year. At some point, he'll have to look out for himself whether he really wants to or not, and I think that's more likely to be after this season than waiting and seeing if he can beat out St. Clair.
