QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, National Champion)

They sped him up in the pocket and delayed his reads consistently. All night.

No QB plays well when you can do that.

This game was more on coaches imo. IU guys had a better game plan and our guys didn't catch up until it was too late (and still almost won).

Learning experience. Nothing foundationally wrong.

I agree nothin fundamentally wrong but he misses wide open WRs and hits TEs and RBs - it is very frustrating with multiple options open but he is young.

Under throw to JJ cost us 7 points, too.

Day can shrug the sneaks off (see his presser) but he really needs to work on keeping his feet and driving on those, too, in my imo.

All kinds of things for him t work on, for sure.

That sneak though, I questioned that before they did it. It was a long yard, not the inches kind of thing. A QB sneak is tough there.

There is no such thing as "delaying reads" There are progressions that aren't viable as you make reads. There are muddled reads. But there is no "delay" you get into your progression and/or triangle... the difference is the speed.

When your time to throw is shortened, your processor must speed up.

There are ways I agree. But I saw missed execution on the OL and QB early and late. There was a collective, top-down failure last night on the offense (sans WRs)

The OL getting their asses whipped is absolutely a foundational issue. How we see Julian progress in playoff prep will reveal more. But there were things scUM threw at him that IU did as well. Both defenses were successful in those deployments, IU especially because of their DL.

First one whatever the right way to say it is, they confused him by switching faster than he’s seen it so far.

second one agree again, issues were all over not just Sayin and not just OL.

Third one- it was in reference to Julian Sayin, not the OL. I’m saying I don’t see any Underwood like structural issues with his game.

Indiana crashed the right side of the offensive line, which has been an issue most of the year (but stood firm against the Weasels). The secondary also covered Buckeye WRs pretty well most of the time. Sayin was not ready to adapt to the speed needed to go through progressions. All of those problems seem to arise from the offense just not being ready for that game. I think the game just came too quickly after TCUN and without a concrete plan to handle Hartline's developments. They've got some time to sort that out now, but they need to get on top of it quickly.
