QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Soooo... Anyone interested in talking about espn's latest allegations?

Sure, as soon as they get something more than an "anonymous former friend" - read: pissed off, jilted jock sniffer - to back them up.

I think some of the tags should be reconsidered at this point. :ohwell:

I removed mine. I'd hope others would do the same. If not to pile on TP, then to show support for the hundreds if not thousands of athletes that came thru tOSU and will continue to come here and do things the right way.

Especially the person who put "Favorite Buckeye Ever". Yikes.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up the Matt Jones comparison.

Matt was a freakishly gifted athlete, but had attitude and work-ethic problems.

Ultimately, he smoked his way out of a promising NFL career.

Loved his multiple overtime victory over Eli-an all time classic.

If you can't quit weed for a job that pays millions, you have issues. Hell, I quit* for a job that paid 32,600 way back when...

I think TP/Matt Jones is a very good comparison. I still think Pryor gets a shot at QB first, though.

I'm not commenting about him personally at all. It requires some serious gymnastics to suggest that the reason Pryor is leaving is because the fans and media were brutal.

I'm not suggesting people were very reasonable towards Terrelle. A stunningly sizeable subset of the Shoe never seemed to like the guy, screaming all sorts of absurd things at him every week (though they were more furious with JT for not benching him for Bauserman)

I'm simply stating that Pryor isn't entering the problematic supplemental draft route, while still injured, because of unfriendly reactions. He has bigger issues at play here.

How do you feel overall about Pryor's time at tOSU? Personally, I feel a little disappointed overall, given how amazing his athletic gifts are. He was certainly an outstanding player, but I feel like he coasted on his talents and gifts too much. I also would have liked to see him sit more during his freshman year to develop more.

In the end though, was he worth it? I remember following his recruiting back in '08, and guys who are ***** recruits in both football and basketball are quite rare. He did some amazing things on the field...but his legacy will not be a good one I feel. He almost became too big for JT and the program.

Personally, I hope things work out for him. If Cam Newton and Tim Tebow are NFL Prospects, Pryor should be too. In the end, Pryor is a victim of the awful process that is the current state of the NCAA.

I find it difficult for TP to get anywhere in the NFL because a team will be much less interested in him after him showing his character in this way.

Terrelle Pryor the football player did everything I wanted from him when he signed that LOI... except bring home a National Championship...

He was electric, he developed as a QB... Despite the media's continued "he sucks.. move him to TE" bullshit, I thought Pryor excelled on the field and was happy to have him out there taking snaps. If he had come back after game 5 and scored TDs, I would have cheered every single one of them with a clear conscience.

I will miss Terrelle Pryor the player. As for the personality... I feel duped, quite frankly. As I commented on another thread - the downside of following recruiting as closely as I do (which, frankly, isn't that close any more) is that sometimes you end up thinking you know more about someone than you really do. Pryor had me fooled and I was willing to defend him up until it became impossible to do so... that time has come.

"we?"

Who paid for Terrelle Pryor? If by We you mean Ohio State, then I have to disagree.. if by We you mean fans who bought up the autographs... then.. yeah.. I agree... part of the problem with people like Pryor is that there are people like us willing to pay for the things he'd like to sell. Not an excuse, just a reality.

I'm so traumatized that I have erased alot of my memory and only remember Joe Germain as our last quarterback
