QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I thought TP did pretty well. the run game really sucked. How many times did the raiders run McFadden up the middle for -1 to +1 or so gain?

I thought the officials, early on, were slowing the Raiders down. IN the early going, they called False Start on the center? I know it happens, but you don't see that happen very often. Then one of their receivers runs a nice route, squares in, and they call Offensive PI? Also, there was a nice TP run negated by a questionable (according to Tirico and Gruden) holding call on Reese.
Later, in the 3d I think, the successive holding calls were just embarassing.

I liked that Terrelle never threw up his hands or got too down. Just kept playing.

The defense for Oakland had a little bit of success with the 3 man rush (shades of RichRod). otherwise, allowing Manning to go 32 for 37 was pretty bad. And tackling? wow, that was bad.

So, bottom line, once Terrelle settled down (first couple of throws were bad) I thought he played well.

He deserves to rewrite his wikipedia page this way. I hope he has a decent NFL career.

I am still mixed to this day on Terrelle. Having multiple personal interactions with Terrelle, he left me with the strong impression that he does not or did not care whatsoever about this university or his teammates. And I know for a fact that many of his teammates did not care for him. This is all aside from the allegations and what was substantiated from the allegations (of which I think he probably got away with some things to be honest).

Despite that, he is a fun player to watch and maybe he had a reality check and personal growth at some point. I think he is the only Buckeye alumni I really feel this way about but either way, it will be interesting to see if he progresses into a decent NFL QB.

Pryor returns to practice, but doesn’t do much

Terrelle Pryor returned to practice Thursday in limited fashion, and after a slow start the quarterback did put a helmet on and go through some reps. He had missed Wednesday’s practice with the after-effects of a concussion but passed a test and was cleared for practice. The next step in the league’s protocol is to be cleared for contact.

“He still has hurdles he has to clear,” Raiders coach Dennis Allen said. When asked if he practiced Friday would Pryor start Sunday, Allen said, “We’ll see.”

Terrelle Pryor has made 'significant progress,' could start

Don't get your Matt Flynn jerseys out just yet out of the closet just yet, Raiders fans.

Oakland starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor was listed as questionable on the Week 4 injury report after increasing his workload at practice Friday, according to coach Dennis Allen.

"I like the progress I've seen," Allen said, adding that Pryor has made "significant progress."

Pryor has been cleared to play. Allen said the team will test him again on Saturday just to be safe, but Pryor has passed all league-mandated tests. If Pryor checks out on Saturday, Allen confirmed Pryor will play. (Allen oddly wouldn't confirm that Pryor will start if he plays, but that seems obvious enough.)

Either Allen is trying to mislead the public (unlikely), or Pryor is likely to start on Sunday against the Washington Redskins. (Despite reports to the contrary this week.) Matt Flynn got the first team reps in practice earlier this week, but the Raiders want to go with their guy.

It's been quite a transformation for Flynn and Pryor. A month ago, we assumed Flynn was the starter. Now the Raiders are doing everything possible to keep Flynn on the bench and Pryor in the lineup.

Raiders change plans, switch from Pryor to Flynn

The Raiders have a change of plans at quarterback and will start Matt Flynn against the Redskins, an NFL source confirmed Sunday morning.

Flynn will make his first start since Jan. 1, 2012.

Pryor was cleared for full contact on Friday and passed a voluntary, team-administered concussion test on Saturday, but showed concussion symptoms later in the evening that prompted the team to reverse field and start Flynn.

Kawakami: Pryor is best QB Raiders have
By TIM KAWAKAMI, MediaNews Group

OAKLAND -- The proof was everywhere on Sunday, the details were glaring, and the proper pained conclusion was beyond question.
Terrelle Pryor isn't just the Raiders' best quarterback, he's the only one.

He's it, and Matt Flynn absolutely isn't.

If nothing else, the Raiders' gut-shot 24-14 loss to Washington at the Coliseum proved one franchise-focusing thing:

By not playing Sunday, Pryor loomed larger than he ever has and maybe ever will, and by playing the way he did, Flynn has never seemed smaller.

"Listen, Matt didn't play well and we have to move on," coach Dennis Allen said of Flynn's shaky performance.

"We have to get better from that, so hopefully we'll be ready to go for San Diego (next Sunday)" when Pryor is expected to be back.

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Terrelle Pryor will start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders on Sunday night against the San Diego Chargers, coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday.

"He is symptom-free, so he's clear," Allen said.

Pat McGroin is the back up and Flynn is 3rd string.

"I like what [McGloin] brings to the table, as far as his competitiveness. He's got some moxie to him. He just understands how to play the game. And I don't think it's too big for him. I think he'll come in, if he's called upon, to run the offense [and] I think he'll do a good job. He's smart, he throws an accurate ball, he's got good arm strength, he's good in decision-making. So I like what this kid has to work with."

Terrelle Pryor living for the now
October, 3, 2013
By Paul Gutierrez | ESPN.com
ALAMEDA, Calif. -- From Bobby Layne to Fran Tarkenton to Jim Zorn to Randall Cunningham to Michael Vick, the fear for running quarterbacks was that they unnecessarily put themselves in harm’s way.

Try telling that to this new breed of zone-read-option quarterbacks, from Cam Newton to Robert Griffin III to Russell Wilson to Colin Kaepernick to, yes, even Terrelle Pryor.

Kent Nishimura/Colorado Springs Gazette"If you start trying to limit the things that [Terrelle Pryor] does, I think you decrease his effectiveness," said Dennis Allen.
Because by the time Pryor takes the field Sunday night under the lights of the O.co Coliseum for the Oakland Raiders, it will have been 13 days since he last took a hard hit. The concussion-causing helmet-to-helmet blow from Denver linebacker Wesley Woodyard came on a quarterback draw and blitz and kept Pryor on the sidelines for last weekend’s winnable game against Washington, a game Oakland lost, 24-14.

So now, as he prepares to start against the San Diego Chargers, might the Raiders dial back some of Pryor’s designed runs, knowing what happened the last time he ran the ball?

“If you start trying to limit the things that he does, I think you decrease his effectiveness,” said Raiders coach Dennis Allen. “You have to let him be the quarterback that he is and let him make plays.”

Raiders' Pryor looking ready for his start Sunday

Terrelle Pryor, wearing pink cleats for cancer awareness, is standing out at practice this week after missing last week's game with concussion-related symptoms. He has been full go and will start Sunday night against the Chargers.

He was supposed to start last week against Washington, but head coach Dennis Allen changed his mind at the last minute because he wasn't convinced Pryor was symptom-free.

Did Pryor appreciate the team's concern, or was he frustrated because he wanted to play?

"It could be both, because I believe we definitely could have beat the Redskins," he said.

Pryor, who took a hit to the helmet in the Sept. 23 Monday night loss in Denver, said the short turnaround was always in the back of Allen's mind.

"It was a pretty fast turnaround," Pryor said. "They definitely were looking out for me and my best interests, and we decided that it would be best if I didn't play."

This will be Pryor's fourth career start - his second against the Chargers. He completed 13 of 28 passes for 150 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the season finale in San Diego on Dec. 30. He also ran for 49 yards.
