QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Yea but there were rumors of Fickell forcing him out.

I could be wrong here; but as I remember, he was not "kicked out of school (i.e. Ohio State)". He was suspended for 5 games and chose to leave:

Terrelle Pryor exiting OSU amid scandal

Terrelle Pryor's career at Ohio State, which started with so much promise and potential, came to an abrupt and scandal-ridden end.

The Ohio State quarterback announced through his attorney Tuesday that he would not play for the Buckeyes this season. He had already been suspended for the first five games for breaking NCAA rules by accepting improper benefits from the owner of a tattoo parlo

"In the best interests of my teammates, I've made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at The Ohio State University," Pryor said in a statement issued by Columbus lawyer Larry James.

Pryor's announcement comes just eight days after Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel was forced to resign for knowing about the players' improper benefits but not telling any of his superiors.

"He did not want to be a a distraction to his teammates," James said of Pryor. "This is something he came to consider after much thought."

Re: Yea but there were rumors of Fickell forcing him out.

Even if Fickell did, he could only kick him off the team, not out of school. In addition, if Pryor wanted to say in school to get his degree it would be a public relations nightmare to take away his scholarship (think Robert Smith back in the early 90s here).

Because Pryor was the most high-profile of the accused, he took almost all of the blame from the media and fans. In fact, I've heard people talk about how Pryor/Tressel "took tOSU down", which is a laughable conclusion. No comment on how Posey, Hall, Howard, and Herron didn't keep their noses clean, causing the "scandal" to drag on?

I've often wondered if things would have been different had the second wave of violations never happened.

Regardless, and like I said before, I don't hold any ill will against Pryor. Just don't act like a damn victim. "A drunk driver hit me when I ran that red light, what a piece of shit!" (Obviously an exaggeration, to be clear)

Pryor is a better talent but I will always think more highly of Troy. Even if I give you that what they did violation-wise was equally wrong, Troy paid for his mistakes and came back while Pryor didn't really follow up on his own promises, and in general Pryor sticks his foot in his mouth way too often in my view.

Considering the source, I'm assuming they badgered the [Mark May] out of him with Ohio State related questions. I respect Pryor, just as much as I respect Troy Smith. They both made bone-headed mistakes, but both were able to bounce back and make the most of the opportunities given to them.

Doesn't sound like he's moved on too much. Even if so...man, this bugs me.

Look, I'm fine with TP now, wish him the best in the NFL. As far as I can tell, he screwed up, apologized on national television, and was poised to make it right before the clusterfuck that was the NCAA and Gene Smith ended up forcing him/Tress out.

However, don't play the fucking victim card. YOU broke the rules, YOU caused the school to "kick you out." You weren't booted for excessive community involvement, you were booted for breaking the rules.

To act like he was wronged by the school...unreal.

I kind of see it this way too. TP did a lot for the team, but he also hurt the team's performance for 2011, brought bad press to the university, and prevented them from potentially playing for a National Championship last year. That's all subject to speculation I guess since Urban may not have been HC if the situation never happened and Tressel is let go. Still, TP references everything he did for the team and is upset he's not welcome back at this time. He was a member of the team, and the team and fans suffered because of his actions. I think he's trying to make it about "me" and isn't considering the ramifications of his actions. TP will be welcomed back after the 5 years are up, I'm sure. Now isn't the time to be throwing out a comment like this.

I dont hold TP liable for any of the sanctions or tOSU not playing for a championship last year. If Coach Tressel would have forwarded the information to the proper authorities, we would not be in the trouble we're in.

I will certainly never put TP into the "Buckeye royalty" category of an Archie or Woody or Spielman or Tatum or Willis or Eddie George, but I certainly wish him no ill will. He did a lot around here and played well while he was here. Seems like he has grown up some, which is what kids do. Rooting for him to do well, I want to see him lead the Raiders back to respectability...that would be HOF worthy

Agreed. Nobody accuses AJ Green of "trying to take down" the Georgia program, for instance, b/c Mark Richt didn't repeatedly lie about what he knew and what happened. Green served a small suspension and everyone moved on, which is what should have happened in Pryor's case.

Pryor made a mistake but the blame and hatred he gets from some people is way out of proportion to his responsibility in the problems the school faced.

And Jim Tressel would still be The Ohio State University football coach today.

No, I believe it was Gene Smith's opinion that Ohio State would not get any "bowl ban" sanctions and subsequent decision to not take a self imposed "bowl ban" in 2011 that prevented Ohio State from playing in the National Championship game last season.

On the bright side, at least Oakland won't have any high profile nationally televised games anytime soon so this [Mark May] will all blow over!

I don't know if you are being a bit sarcastic, but the Raiders will be playing the Broncos on Monday Night Football next week. The way Denver is putting up points the announcing crew could be looking for filler material by the 4th quarter in that one.
