Godfather thinks Terrelle Pryor will stay

JEANNETTE, Pa. -- Terrelle Pryor's godfather and legal guardian believes the embattled quarterback will finish his career at Ohio State.

Willie Burns said he spoke with Pryor two days ago. While they did not discuss specifics about Pryor's football future, Burns said Friday he doesn't think the quarterback will leave for the NFL until after his senior season.

Pryor has been suspended for the Buckeyes' first five games in 2011. He is also under NCAA investigation for other potential violations.

The 63-year-old Burns says Pryor will only turn pro "if somebody pressures his butt bad." Pryor lived with Burns while he was in high school.

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel resigned on Monday amid mounting evidence of widespread problems with the football program.

I have always believed that true loyalty is what you show to the people in your group who have messed up. The ones who have been given a chance to clean their mess and who want to make an effort to do so. It is easy and it is fun to be loyal to the Mike Brewsters of the team. And make no mistake, I am loyal to them and PROUD of them. Loyalty is not always easy and not always fun. I am not proud of Terrelle right now, but I am loyal to him if what he wants is to help clean up this mess to whatever extent he can. I will be thrilled if he can one day me/us proud. We'll be watching, and rooting, and screaming, and hoping. We're Buckeyes, it's what we do. Go Bucks, beat them all!

If a player didn't know what he could accept while being recruited, then he either ignored what he was told, listened to people who told him he could ignore what he didn't want to hear, or his school and coaches were negligent.

Most high schools that I know about in the Cincinnati area have meetings with their students and one with students and parents when the dos and don'ts of recruiting are presented including handing them guides from the NCAA about same.

I would imagine that the compliance office meets with all scholarship athletes on more than one occasion. I would imagine that the coaching staff repeats this information and looks for signs that students are a) aware b) complying. If this is the case and the athletes are ignoring the rules, then they run the risk that they will be penalized. If this is not the case then the coaches and the compliance office are not doing their job and they run the risk that they -- and their institution/program -- will be penalized.

Who in this group doesn't know where speed limits are posted on the roads they travel? I venture to say that most of us, myself included, have received tickets and paid fines. We had a choice: stay within the speed limit, or take the chance that we will be caught and penalized.

It really is that simple.

I used to feel the same way...... Personally I think he needs to suffer some of the consequences of his actions here. Tress was forced out, mainly because of what TP did. Pryor is not bigger than Tressel. He's not bigger than the Ohio State football program. TP needs some time to mature and realize what he is throwing away. He has been given opportunity after opportunity and had the world handed to him on a silver platter, based mainly on the fact that he's a great athlete. Maybe it's time for him to get kicked in the ass a bit (like most of us have at one point in our lives)........if he responds and grows from that, well, I'd consider pulling for him again.

Hold on. I will stand for a Buckeye as fast as any would, however if some of the things claimed about TP have been true, do his actions really reflect that he is truly a Buckeye?

A Buckeye is not only one who is privileged to play for the best damn university in the land, but one who does so with respect and class. We all make mistakes, I make more mistakes than most personally, but what matters is that you learn from them.

I don't know if Terrelle has learned from his mistakes. I have not looked into his car situation deeply, but if he has been doing what he is being accused of doing, he is not showing me that he has learned anything. If Terrelle is violating something like this after the big mess, he is disrespecting The Ohio State University and Buckeye Nation.

I am not bashing Terrelle at the slightest. He is an amazing quarterback and I hope he has learned from the last couple months/years. However, if I am going to believe in someone and stand by them, I want to know who that person truly is first.

Unless you know them personally, you don't have a fucking clue who they truly are.

Oh hell no. My son will not be recruited to Ohio State if he isn't allowed extra sauce from the bucket.
