High School Views: Jeannette's Pryor gets some 'help' with making a decision

Last week, we posed a question to our readers about Jeannette super-athlete Terrelle Pryor.
A 6-foot-6 junior, Pryor has proven to be one of the finest athletes in the area -- and, according to some scouts, in the country -- for his exploits on the football field and the basketball court.
To me, a football-only future would be his best bet for a variety of reasons.
But, major colleges are lining up to get him in both sports so, last week, we asked the readers' help in trying to get a feel for where the public thinks Pryor's future lies:
The following are some of the best arguments:
Dan of New Braunfels, Texas: "I believe that you are absolutely correct with your assessment of Terrelle Pryor's future. He is very fortunate to be a gifted two sport athlete but his future, in my opinion, is in football. ... I believe with the proper coaching, Terrelle has a much better opportunity for a nice windfall in the NFL as opposed to the possibility of being "just another 6' 6' guy" in the NBA."
Mark of Irwin: "Terrelle Pryor should do both sports in college. Why? Because he can."
Ray of Jeannette: "Let's wait until after his junior year before making any recommendations ... if his basketball game improves the way his football game did, it's gonna be scary."
Robert of Amherst, Ohio: "I would suggest he follow [Pitt cornerback Darrelle] Revis' path. Give it a shot at basketball and football. If it is apparent one or the other [probably basketball] proves he isn't exceptional or above other players, the decision will be made for him."
Reed of Bethel Park: "I believe that Terrelle Pryor should go the Darrelle Revis route -- go to college on a football scholarship, but at least try to walk on to the basketball team. Football is, as you say, the safer bet for him, but there's nothing to be lost from at least trying to do both. And if basketball doesn't work out, then he has something to fall back on."
Colin of Alexandria, Va.: "Being originally from Western Pennsylvania and remaining a WPIAL football fan, I have to admit that Pryor might be one of the best if not the best athlete that I have ever seen come out of the WPIAL.
"Now ultimately, if everything was equal, then I would have to say that basketball would be the way for Pryor to go as there is potential down the road for higher salaries and more guaranteed money than in football, but everything is not equal, and the reality of it is that it is much harder to make it in professional basketball than it is in professional football.
"Now obviously it isn't exactly 'easy' to become a professional football player, but with Pryor's size and speed he is something extremely special on a football field. I will admit I haven't seen much of him playing basketball, but your point about how many 6-6 athletes there are playing basketball is very true, and he would probably be one of many throughout the country with similar athleticism and ability if he stuck with basketball.
"I think if he goes to college to focus solely on football and he gets a coach who helps him develop as a passer, then I believe one day Mr. Pryor will be receiving a paycheck to throw the football on Sundays. Who knows? If he chooses football in college, maybe in 4 or 5 years we will be saying that he is Vince Young Part 2."
Jeremy of Jeannette: "As a resident of Jeannette, I have the pleasure of watching Pryor. On the basketball court, he is special. As a football player, he has been even more dominant. It seems unfair at times to even let him play high school football. I think he would be better served sticking to football in college."
