QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

At first I was thinking that's obvious but if he is ranked over Hale, then that is high praise. I think he just may be one of the top players in the country period from the sounds of it.

PA is real top heavy next year. Hale might not even be the second best as you have Holley and Baldwin that are putting their name in the hat to.

At this point many have said Pryor, Holley, Hale, and Baldwin for the top 4 in the state.

High School Views: Jeannette's Pryor gets some 'help' with making a decision

Tuesday, December 05, 2006
By Colin Dunlap, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Last week, we posed a question to our readers about Jeannette super-athlete Terrelle Pryor.
A 6-foot-6 junior, Pryor has proven to be one of the finest athletes in the area -- and, according to some scouts, in the country -- for his exploits on the football field and the basketball court.
To me, a football-only future would be his best bet for a variety of reasons.
But, major colleges are lining up to get him in both sports so, last week, we asked the readers' help in trying to get a feel for where the public thinks Pryor's future lies:
The following are some of the best arguments:
Dan of New Braunfels, Texas: "I believe that you are absolutely correct with your assessment of Terrelle Pryor's future. He is very fortunate to be a gifted two sport athlete but his future, in my opinion, is in football. ... I believe with the proper coaching, Terrelle has a much better opportunity for a nice windfall in the NFL as opposed to the possibility of being "just another 6' 6' guy" in the NBA."
Mark of Irwin: "Terrelle Pryor should do both sports in college. Why? Because he can."
Ray of Jeannette: "Let's wait until after his junior year before making any recommendations ... if his basketball game improves the way his football game did, it's gonna be scary."
Robert of Amherst, Ohio: "I would suggest he follow [Pitt cornerback Darrelle] Revis' path. Give it a shot at basketball and football. If it is apparent one or the other [probably basketball] proves he isn't exceptional or above other players, the decision will be made for him."
Reed of Bethel Park: "I believe that Terrelle Pryor should go the Darrelle Revis route -- go to college on a football scholarship, but at least try to walk on to the basketball team. Football is, as you say, the safer bet for him, but there's nothing to be lost from at least trying to do both. And if basketball doesn't work out, then he has something to fall back on."
Colin of Alexandria, Va.: "Being originally from Western Pennsylvania and remaining a WPIAL football fan, I have to admit that Pryor might be one of the best if not the best athlete that I have ever seen come out of the WPIAL.
"Now ultimately, if everything was equal, then I would have to say that basketball would be the way for Pryor to go as there is potential down the road for higher salaries and more guaranteed money than in football, but everything is not equal, and the reality of it is that it is much harder to make it in professional basketball than it is in professional football.
"Now obviously it isn't exactly 'easy' to become a professional football player, but with Pryor's size and speed he is something extremely special on a football field. I will admit I haven't seen much of him playing basketball, but your point about how many 6-6 athletes there are playing basketball is very true, and he would probably be one of many throughout the country with similar athleticism and ability if he stuck with basketball.
"I think if he goes to college to focus solely on football and he gets a coach who helps him develop as a passer, then I believe one day Mr. Pryor will be receiving a paycheck to throw the football on Sundays. Who knows? If he chooses football in college, maybe in 4 or 5 years we will be saying that he is Vince Young Part 2."
Jeremy of Jeannette: "As a resident of Jeannette, I have the pleasure of watching Pryor. On the basketball court, he is special. As a football player, he has been even more dominant. It seems unfair at times to even let him play high school football. I think he would be better served sticking to football in college."

I got to see quite a bit of film of Pryor...and the resemblance to Vince Young is uncanny. He is that good...and needs that much work to become more of a QB and less of an ATHLETE...same as Vince did when he was coming into college in '02.

I got it from a free newsletter that Keystone Recruiting puts out but the writer has a blog, too. He knows Pryor well, I guess, and his family and basketball coach, so he has good info on the kid. The guy is in his 30's, and he said he is the best athlete he has ever seen in PA, better than Lavar Arrington who was starting at 14 for a top team. PA people just rave about him. From what I can tell from this writer, though, Pryor's dad has some disease and is in a wheelchair, I guess. And the reason Pryor committed to Pitt before was so that his dad could see him play. He doesn't live with his dad, though, he lives with a legal guardian.

I got it off their free newsletter, but after researching it, I found their site that has all of their reports. There is no direct link to the actual articles, they are all on one page, but at least it's linked ot that page. I know they don't mind people showing them for free, but I definitely understand. http://www.pghsports.com/psr-KeystoneRecruiting.php

The one I showed before was for all-state. They obviously also named him Underclassmen of the Year for the WPIAL:

AA Underclassman of the Year
TERRELLE PRYOR, Jeannette (Jr.)
One of the best athletes in the state...ever.

better athlete then Lavar Arrington... Man, I am not sure I am ready to drink that Kool-Aid yet. Anyone who has seen L.A HS film or saw him in person realize what a compliment that is to Pryor....
Gene23, a PA insider on GBW, puts Pryor on LaVar's level, and also agrees with the VY comparisons. (convo via PM)

thanks for the infor Jwins... There is no doubt Pryor is amazing, but L.A also did it in Qaud A as opposed to Single A. Same token, Pryor is only Jr and I saw LA when he was a Sr.

Regardless, to have your athletic abality compared to Vince or Lavar... that is saying a WHOLE lot!

This is the kind of kid you ride to another NC...IF he develops to his potential. I bet he likes watching Troy rake in the Heisman and Big10 POY...potential NC. Hopefully he wants to be the next great QB in line at tOSU. You can REALLY build a class around a kid like this.
