QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

does anyone else think that what makes this even sweeter is that one of the reasons why rich rod was hired at michigan was because he gauranteed he could get terrelle pryor to come to michigan? i think it's a thing of beauty.
I don't think there was ever any kind of "guarantee", but he definitely made it his #1 priority even to the point of notifying TP he was leaving wvu before telling his own former players. In reality, it set the tone for his entire tenure thus far. He puts all of his eggs in one basket (offense) and it ends up biting him in the end. What kind of effect would TP have had on scUM? Nobody will ever really know, but I suspect it wouldn't change things significantly. If he has TP in 2008, their offense is probably not the trainwreck it was and maybe that helps his recruiting. Problem is, would that momentum have been used to help their defense? I doubt it.

Gotta love how TP has developed as a person, leader, teammate and QB. He now has the ability to beat you, just with his arm alone. His progress has been impressive. He is limiting his mistakes, seeing the field better, and his mechanics have improved significantly.

He is also using all his receivers. I believe he connected with 7 different guys yesterday. Posey, Dane, T Wash, Z Boren, Fragel, Philly Brown and Saine. He shows that he is going through his progressions and not always locking in on just one receiver. He is also learning not to make up his mind on what he is going to do, before the play happens. But, rather, learning to let the play develop and go from there. His decision making has really improved.

Gotta be close to a winning grade for TP. He had one deep throw down the middle that he had Dane on, but he thought about it too long and threw it too short. Same thing on the TD pass to Saine, but that one worked out. Pretty flawless the rest of the game. The one in the dirt to Posey was simply him throwing it away, which was a good decision. "A" performance.

Don't sell him short - he also completed a pass to himself. :wink2:

As well as one to Jordan Hall.

He had a great passing performance. Looking for the reasons as to why he once again probably won't get a passing grade in his coaching evaluation, there was the time he took about a 6-yard loss instead of throwing the ball away, and there was a time they had to take a timeout to avoid a delay of game after an official's timeout.

I'm not trying to be overly critical, just pointing out some of the things the coaches will be talking to him about, even after an excellent game, in order for him to keep improving.

It's also interesting to me that they gave Wisconsin a lot to look at, and almost none of it involved option plays or rollouts, which should all be back in the gameplan this coming Saturday.

At his current pace, he's looking at 2700 yards passing, 30 TDs passing, 6 INTs, 8.8 YPA, 68% completion rate, 700 yards rushing, 6 rushing TDs, and 6.2 YPC on the season.

For the sake of comparison, some guy named Troy Smith won the Heisman trophy with 2542 yards passing, 30 TDs passing, 6 INTs, 8.2 YPA, 65.3% completion rate, 204 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD, and 2.8 YPC.

I fully expect Terrelle's numbers to dip slightly as we start playing better teams. But that notwithstanding, he's having one of the best seasons (statistically) in recent memory. I literally can't recall another Buckeye having a year like this. Just think of what he'd be doing if we didn't shut down the offense in the second half of 80% of our games this season.
I think his numbers will be just as good, if not better. Marshall, Ohio, E. Michigan, and Indiana he did not play but two and a half quarters. Plus in the Illinois game the wind and an injury was a factor. I say Pryor will go over 300 at least two more times this year.

TP had a great performance yesterday, it was only IU though. He has improved so much as a passer. The Rose Bowl was one of his best games throwing the football last year, and IMO his mechanics are much improved since then.

I agree it's awesome seeing him spread it around so much. Most teams still seem to have the gameplan of making Pryor beat you with his arm, and he does!

I think if Pryor stays healthy, we will win the national championship, that added dimension to his game of taking off for big gains is just a back breaker for opposing D's. I'm not sure our running game is dominant enough to win it all if Pryor is gimpy. I think (hope) he is OK but the plan was for him to not run at all yesterday. There were several times he could have taken off, but wouldn't. I think the reason was to not risk injury and save it for Wisky but it could be that he is still stiff and sore.

I also agree that TP's progress in the passing game should quiet the doubters of Tressel's (and Siciliano's) qb coaching efforts. I can't wait for Saturday night at Camp Randall, this time I think TP beats the buggers with his arm. :osu4:

The one thing I'd love to see him work on (more) is just throwing the ball away.

He is improved by leaps and bounds but he's no where near ready for the NFL yet. Even after a senior year he won't step into the NFL and start for probably 1-2 years.

Next year with Pryor we'll have Posey/Carter to throw to and Boom & Co to hand off too. Oh not to mention 3 of the 5 lineman back with Hall coming back as well.

I wasn't inferring that he'd get drafted as a QB. Just as an athlete in general. He has first-round athletic ability with QB upside, he'll be in demand.

I'm very confident that he'll be back, I'm just not assuming. :p

If Vince Young can be a top-3 pick as a QB, then TP can be a 1st rounder as one...especially since VY has been (relatively) successful in the NFL overall.
