QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Sometimes i wonder if Tressel comes in to the bowl games with different game plans. For instance we saw a new wrinkle against Texas when Terrell
lined up as a reciever. I worked to perfection. Again i think we will see Terrell being used in some kind of different plays against the Ducks.

Dude he's the quarterback of your favorite team. His name is in the title of the thread; at least spell it right.

I just cant wait for a game where Pryor is ALLOWED and ABLE to leave everything out on the field. We haven't seen either yet in his career, but we have seen the potential

To be honest I have only seen 2 games in recent years where our Qb has been allowed to leave everything on the field, That was against Notre Dame and Michigan in 06. Pryor has the potential to go Off like very few players can and when that day comes no one can beat us.

I think he was allowed earlier in the season. Unfortunately, he wasn't able yet and threw multiple balls up for grabs and made bad decisions. So he was scaled back. There's going to be an evolution and like most I expect that we'll see more in the bowl game than we've seen in the past 6-7 games.

As much as I liike the upside of TP he just is not ready to make the move yet. He is much better with only an option or two and then making the most with his legs. JT tried to cut him loose this year and it just imploded in the Purdue game.....still get nightmares about that loss. He will start hitting his stride midpoint next season....if he works his tail off. Go Bucks

I think there is more to be said of his injuries than of Tressel not trusting him. He can take those strides and he can do it right now. A good set of bowl practices and he'll be ready to go full boar.

Mark my words those injuries will be the best thing for TP as he learned to better play within himself

Terrelle Pryor, LeBron James and Morgan Pressel are just a few of the athletes that have made the last ten years great.

Before turning the page to a new decade, ESPN RISE Magazine looks back on the most exciting and influential 10 years in the history of high school sports. A lot has happened over the past 10 years. A sophomore named LeBron James announced his arrival as the next big thing. Hoops stars headed to Europe after -- and even before -- receiving their diplomas. Some athletes spent their summer vacations winning gold medals. And one kid even sailed around the world.

So with the final issue of the decade upon us, we thought it would be fitting to look back on the 10 years that saw high school sports hit the big time by giving you our lists of Top 10 athletes, stories and more from the past decade. We'll also have 10 fearless predictions for the next decade, as well as the best in pop culture from the 2000s ... but that's Friday. Now, we celebrate the stars of the shows.

Top 10 High School Athetes

9. Terrelle Pryor
Jeannette (Jeannette, Pa.)
Class of 2008

Pryor was a two-sport dynamo at Jeannette. The Ohio State quarterback started out as a hoops star and transformed into the most publicized gridiron recruit this decade.

reminds me a lot of vince youngs career. Pryor has looked promising but hasnt really broke out. hopefully he can do it in the rosebowl like vy against mich. Although i have not seen one run comparable to vince's 60 yarder against oklahoma. I'm afraid Tressell might have turned him into krenzel. Seems like pryor tends to slow down when he's running (ie purdue when he could have had a td, and minnesota 2008 on his 33yder). I don't see why we got all excited about getting an elite "do everything" quarterback when in tressell's most ideal offense his quarterback would be good at doing nothing. Hopefully I'm wrong. Tress has showed some good schemes that allowed pryor to take over (minn 2009) but once it got to the big game he didn't let him do much (he was banged up in psu game though but regardless).

I understand your point. If you just want a QB that is going to protect the ball and not ask him to do much, then why get Pryor? Well because you still want your QB to be as good as he can be, and speed always helps. So I think that's why you get a guy like Pryor. Now, I am not so sure that Pryor wouldn't be better at a position other than QB, but with what we have, he's the best option by far. I love Pryor out wide in redzone situations, though.

But I think he is being used in a way that helps us win. That's all Tressel cares about is winning. I think that if we just let Pryor loose right now, it could lose more games for us than it could win. We needed Pryor to do this for us against Purdue, and he failed. Since then we really haven't had to let Pryor loose to win games, so why do it? Just to see what he can do??? Winning is the #1 important thing in my book. If the gameplan for a certain team requites Pryor to do more, then I'm sure he will. Maybe next year it will.

I'd rather go 13-0 next year without Pryor winning any awards, then go 12-1 and have Pryor win the Heisman.

Not a very good start.
Tressell might have turned him into krenzel.
This comparison - and first of many shots at JT - makes zero sense. Craig Krenzel was fearless out there. He may have been a mediocre passer, but he routinely sacrificed his body for the team.
Seems like pryor tends to slow down when he's running (ie purdue when he could have had a td, and minnesota 2008 on his 33yder).
That's because they don't put the average & bad plays on highlight reels. Pryor has never been all that fond of contact. That's not a new development.

Because it requires more than just aggressive playcalling to 'take over'. Pryor has routinely demonstrated that he's not able to be steady let alone a dominant, great player.

How so? I thought his mobility was underutilized in that game. Harvey and Moss had early success pressuring Troy in the pocket. But even though they kept blowing around the corners, I don't remember too many roll-outs or QB draws being called. And maybe my memory is faulty, but I recollect thinking that leaving him in the pocket all night was great for us.

Seeing how well Beaver State moved the ball against the quack defense, I think Tress will use TP's legs more than he has most of the season.

TP is gonna put up some BIG rushing yards in this game.
I don't think the Oregon players will be put in the situation where they turn their backs on Pryor like they did Canfield. There were times in that game where he had 6-10 yards easy and he was afraid to take them (with good reason....he's slower than Andre Smith carrying Terrance Cody).

Pittman was underutilized, as he had major success running right at UF that night. He just wasn't given the rock, as Tress tried to run a track meet with the star runner in the hospital and the captain of the team sluggish with arrogance & buffet food.

Troy was not that great as a designed runner. He was slippery in the pocket and could improvise well, but it was painful watching him try to execute qb draws. He telegraphed them and was pretty average overall.

Troy also got a lot thicker for the 06 season, when he sacrificed some speed/agility for strength to take hits from the pocket. That only became more noticeable after what December did to him, physically & mentally.
