QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

IMO it will come down to Florida, Texas and tOSU, the rest is window dressing. Florida worries me.

Florida has a log-jam at QB... I think PSU and Pitt are going to be our biggest competition in the end... Possibly Texas and Tennessee could sneak in there, but Tennessee is said to be the leader for DC Jefferson as well...

This kid is hard to read. First he wants to stay close to home, then he's looking at Texas. If being close to home is not a factor, I would fear the Vols. If staying at home is important, then OSU's major competition might just be PSU. Some very credible PSU fans have recently changed their tune. A month ago they thought they had no shot, but now think they are in the hunt. IMO, and I mean strictly my opinion, I wouldn't put too much stock in his statments about going to a top basketball program. I think he wants to go somewhere where he has a chance to play basketball. All these top recruits say the same thing, it's almost scripted at times. Does anybody really think Myron Rolle went to FSU for the academics? I really want this guy to go to OSU, but trying to analyze every statement he makes is more puzzling to me. These kids change their mind every week. I just hope OSU prevails and he comes to OSU.

That depends on your definition of 'playing basketball.' PSU lost 14 of 16 games in the big ten last year, and the conference will be much stronger (notably MSU, Purdue, UM, even OSU) by the time pryor arrives in '08 (if only due to the stellar '07 recruiting in the b10). Will pryor get them to .500? Will he get to the tourney? That's a pretty big gamble for such a special talent.

My point was that fans shouldn't read too much into those statements about him wanting to go to a top basketball program. PSU, IMO, shouldn't be eliminated from consideration due to the state of their basketball program. I'm sure not going to contend that PSU will ever be a top BB program, you are spot on about the state of their BB program.

i think the idea is that if all other things are equal, the bb program issue knocks psu down a peg or two.

This appears to be on target just from observing that Pryor hasn't eliminated PSU already. It looks to me that some tOSU fans have latched onto those statements as if they were etched in stone in order to delude themselves into believing that Pryor will eliminate PSU because they would. Fans just set themselves up for disappointment when they assume a kid will make the decision they want him to make and overweight the importance of trivial scraps of information..

We've got 8 more months of reading the tea leaves, and over that time I think he'll drive fans nuts of tOSU, PSU, Pitt and probably a couple more schools.

If I were a highly coveted recruit, I'd be giving serious consideration to Texas as well. Austin is a fantastic city and the "perks" for recruits are pretty unreal. It doesnt mean a kid is going to go to that school just because he visits. Remember in the recruiting process, the best part is getting to go places you wouldn't normally go to and be treated like a king. Terrelle will have his pick in the end because he's the recruit this year. It is pretty early and when football practice starts again, the recruits will remember why we are OHIO STATE and just what that means.:wink2:

Jeannette star narrows list, eliminates Pitt
By Kevin Gorman
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, June 8, 2007

After discussing it with Jeannette coach Ray Reitz, Pryor trimmed his list of 70-plus scholarship offers to, in alphabetical order, Alabama, Florida, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

I got this from Bucknuts. Some you you might've already seen it before. I know it's only a rumor, but it might seem that ND is really out at this point. Seems like a lot of teams are in it just for show.
"Hi, I'm Charlie Weis head Football Coach from the University of Notre Dame, and I'm here to recruit you as a Wide Reciever."

That was supposedly the pick-up line used a few weeks ago when the Notre Dame head coach visited Jeannette High School to speak with one of if not the most recruitied high school Quarterback in the country, Jeannette's Terrelle Pryor. Well maybe honestly doesn't work that well with football recruits these days, because Pryor supposedly cut the chat short and headed back to class. Charlie must really like Jimmy C. and Terrelle must really want to play quarterback. Well it looks like ND is now off the list. RSW is normally the first show supporting Notre Dame, and I kinda figured ND was going to be #1 on his list, so if this story is true, and from what I heard it's dead on, it's back to the recruiting trail for Charlie. Just a tip coach from now on stick with "recruit you as a football player" one who hopefully plays Defense...cause ND needs Defense. In other Pryor news it's looking like he really wants to play basketball and football, not football and if they allow basketball. Here is a nice tease, he might end up at a school that wears a certain kinda blue.

If I had to take an educated guess, I'd say Ohio State, PSU, WVU, UF, and Tennessee each get 1 of his 5 official visits.

I posted a (secondhand) story along those lines on 5/11 on the BN $ board (Weis-Pryor Morsel). It either takes a special brand of arrogance or a lack of preparation to approach Pryor like that, imo. It has been quite clear during his recruitment that he sees himself as a QB all the way. I can't imagine that they did not learn such a preference in past recruiting calls/texts.
