I find this quote interesting. Isn't this completely opposite of what he has said in the past? Now he doesn't want to be close to home.

?I?d like to go to Pitt, but I don?t know yet,? said Pryor, who committed to play basketball for the Panthers in February 2006 but later reneged. ?I kind of don?t want to be close to home. I want to go check out the world. I?m not ruling out any school. I?m looking at all my options.?

even with the talent that matta has had verbal, i have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that pryor could find ample playing time if it's only a matter of talent. pryor is an exceptional basketball player. even at #30 on scouts top-100, he is underrated.

you state that pryor is "reportedly not as good at basketball." umm... he's ranked either the best or second best football player for '08. of course he's "not as good at basketball."

Ive got to agree with the "outsider" view. It sounds like his future is most fitting in football, but his heart still remains with hoops. In one of the early interviews he did with a PA newspaper, he said his dream school was North Carolina, due to their hoops history.

However, because one of his family members - I believe his father - is in a wheel chair, it has put about a 4 hour's drive limit to whatever school he can go to, from what I've heard. Hence, its primarily the schools in PA and OH he's considering, with South Bend being the geographic limit of schools he could consider out west. And yes, I'm fully aware he's not going to Notre Dame - I'm just pointing out the geography is all.

So, the point is, the hoops thing is really going to throw a wrench into what this kid does, and says. My guess is, he's going to go back and forth about what to do about hoops in his decision. He knows most teams are drooling over his FB potential, and that could be his best shot at stardom, but he's an AA basketball kid, and feels very strongly about that. He's going to be dealing with twice as many coaching staffs from the same school when it comes to making this decision. Its more information to process, and thus I think observers and recruitniks are in for a bumpy ride with this one. It just depends on what the primary motivator is behind this decision. Too much TBD at this juncture.

I think the real dangerous team here is WVU. Unlike Pitt, PSU & OSU, where he'd have more competition at QB... I could see Pryor rotating in for (or maybe with) White his first year, and then running the show with devine the next.

It won't take long for Huggins to get WVU to Pitt level in bball.

If you are under the impression that South Bend is 4 hours west of Jeannete, PA you seriously need to bone up on your geography.

But you just proved my point. While being outstanding at basketball, he's not elite. It's going to be difficult then to come in at midseason, without any practice time, and not miss a beat. Especially coming into a team with such talent. That's a compliment. You realize that don't you? He's going to be better suited to sign with a school who is going to bend over backwards for him (so to speak). I think Pitt would do that. And as far as closeness in proximity, it doesn't get much closer than Pittsburgh. He already committed there in the past too, so that's another sign in Pitt's favor.

What I've learned in recruiting is that you have to be a realist. Even if you're a fan of an elite school. To EXPECT a recruit will commit to your school at such an early date is foolish, unless maybe he's an in stater (even then sometimes no, Ben Martin). You have to realize that even if you're one of the recruit's top schools, probabilities are still not in your favor. Recruits speak in glowing terms about nearly every one of those top schools. You elevate your expectations that unrealistically high, and you're just going to get burned.

You can't get mad at me for hypothesizing that a recruit will stay in state, especially when he's inkled at those intentions. Top football recruit in the country....I wanted to weigh in.

#6 PF in the country is not elite? High standards I guess...... I agree with jwin I think WVU may be the biggest threat.

Conley checked in at 28, and was pretty elite. Will it be challenging at OSU? Sure, just like playing two sports in general. But if anyone can do it in the '08 class, it's Pryor.
