In my lifetime, the only other athlete at tOSU that has had such a great impact on a program has been Greg Oden. The fact that Pryor could be here for 4 years will increase his impact on this team, way more than Oden ever did with the basketball program.

Not sure how old you are CMB but I for one am old enough to remember Woody starting TRUE FRESHMAN Art Schlichter at QB in his first game. Moved the previous QB (Rod Gerald) to WR. The game was big, too, against Penn State (before they were part of the Big Televen).

Schlichter got his Carharts handed to him, by the way, losing 19-0.

But the Penn State fans I met in the Northberg were good dudes!

Now to destroy the comparison between schlichter and TP, Terelle already throws a prettier spiral than AS. And he's faster. And taller. And hopefully not an addictive personality. And hopefully TP won't throw a pick in a big game that leads to an incident that gets his coach fired....

Nah, never happen.

I think this years draft, in regards to Tim Tebow, will be interesting. The NFL is trending back to pocket passers. Name the last run first NFL QB who has won a superbowl?

The NFL just conducted a study amongst the players...they were asked to list the most immobile QB's.

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Kurt Warner

That's a lot of superbowls.

Terrelle is already a man amongst boys physically....but he may need 4 years to develop into a good enough QB, where he proves he brings more to the table than a guy like Vince Young.

I still think he's probably gone after 3 years, but if he wants to play QB at the next level, he's going to really need to refine his delivery, continue to grow as a QB under the center, and continue to develop arm strength.

All very obvious things, but guys like Vince Young and Mike Vick have really done a number on the duel threat QB at the next level.

Not sure now, (without knowing anything about the family financial situation), if he does leave after 3....Beanie either for that matter, although Beanies $$ situation has been spoken about enough. TP is a very smart kid, imo, who will do whatever he needs to do to maximize the benefit for his family, (which he has already shown keen foresight in picking JT, Joe & staff over spread teams), but that may include spending whatever amount of time it takes to assure success at the next level, if such assurances can be achieved. Besides, I can't believe JT would ever advise him to do what isn't best in HIS interest, OSU aside, imo.

IFF's post is what I was going to say in response to billmac's post. Pryor is not a run-first QB. Look at all the times he has hung in the pocket and gone through all his progressions, and the times where he was flushed out of the pocket and still kept looking downfield for an open receiver...

That was Troy Smith at his best. Thing is, it took the best Buckeye QB of all time (IMHO) until late in his junior season to become a "pass first" QB. TP is already showing that 5 games into his career. Plus he's 6'6, 235 and can outrun just about anybody on the field. That's scary folks.

There are always going to be combine/workout freaks who go up on the draft board because of measurables. There are always going to be ridiculous athletes that are considered top-level talent in the drafts, and they'll be playing multiple positions (Reggie Bush). There are always big QBs with strong arms who are high on draft boards.

TP is all of those. As long as he doesn't look absolutely dreadful for three years, he'll be gone. Even if he looks absolutely dreadful, he'd probably still have a fantastic shot of going in the first round as a receiver. 6'6, 235, 4.4ish speed. Matt Jones anyone?

If he didn't run a 4.4/4.5, he'd still likely be a very solid QB, from what I've seen so far.

Physically, he's unmatched. But things like 3 step drops, progressions, touch, arm strength, quick release. These are all things that scouts are looking for right now. Terrelle never even got underneath the center in high school. Different players, but theres debate as to whether Tebow even plays QB in the NFL.

I guess my point is, come Terrelle's junior season, he will no doubt be an unstoppable player. Vince was, and to a large degree Tebow has been. But what will his draft status be as a QB? In hindsight, Vince wasn't worth a first round selection, and it will be interesting to see what happens with Tebow. Terrelle still has a long way to go as a QB and I would not be shocked to hear that NFL scouts are gun-shy on drafting an athlete at QB. Fair or not.

I think these are all good points. He has plenty to work on, but what makes many so happy and hopeful is the fact that it seems like he's progressing at a very good rate and wants to get better.

Looking back, if you inserted the current Pryor into the YSU game and gave him the same opportunities and such, there's no doubt in my mind that he absolutely tears it up and puts up better stats than before. Each game I see certain areas in which he needs to improve, but I also see more areas that make me say "Wow, and this kid is only in his 5th game". I think that by the end of the year Pryor might be making his current self look mediocre too if he keeps progressing.
