BrianO;1267661; said:I am not sure where you are going here.
A couple of differences:
- Zwick redshirted (certainly could not crack the starting line up as a true freshman)
- Had a QB rating of 61 in first start with 2 INTs to 1 TD against Cincinnati
- Zwick was replaced by a more athletic dual threat QB
I am not anointing the guy touchdown Jesus educated fans have to be impressed with his potential. I am not sure where he goes from here. I am sure he will lay an egg at some point but I am optimistic this kid will be something special.
- Pryor appears to have beaten out a first team Big-Ten QB as a true freshman.
- Had 4 TDs in his first start with a QB rating of 205
- Can hurt defenses with his legs as well as his arm
FanNation | Five Things We Learned This Weekend3. That the Terrelle Pryor-Vince Young comparisons weren't accurate. Pryor is a better passer -- already. Or at least he's a better passer four games into his true freshman season than the former Texas star was until about halfway through his redshirt sophomore season. Scary.
Yes, the opponent was only Troy, but it was hard not be impressed with the way Pryor so effortlessly lofted four touchdown passes Saturday. (Young, incidentally, did not throw four TDs in a game until the 10th contest of his final season.) He wasn't just standing in the pocket, either; some of his best throws came on the run. Pryor's ascension is hardly a cure-all for Ohio State -- the Buckeyes did not put away Troy until the fourth quarter -- but it's easy to see what the hype was all about. He's big, he's strong, he can run and -- most important -- the dude can pass.
Despite record game, Pryor points out flaws in his play

COLUMBUS Here comes a shock for Ohio State fans calling for Terrelle Pryor to permanently replace Todd Boeckman as the starting quarterback.
Pryor, the highly-touted freshman, thought he "messed up a lot" even though he threw a freshman-record four touchdown passes in Saturday's 28-10 win over Troy.
"When we sit down in the film I'm going to get yelled at, but that's a good thing," Pryor said afterward.
That probably won't happen. Pryor certainly was a difference maker for an offense that had struggled ever since running back Beanie Wells went down with a foot injury.
Starting as a freshman never crossed Pryor's mind until Saturday morning when he was told he was going to take the opening snaps against Troy. He threw a touchdown pass to Rory Nicol ? the Buckeyes' first TD in two weeks ? on the opening drive and went on to play the majority of the game.
Unlike the times he spelled Boeckman the first three games, Pryor threw downfield more. A 39-yard touchdown pass to Brian Hartline and a 38-yard TD pass to Brian Robiskie were two of Ohio State's longest pass plays of the season.
Robiskie said he saw a lot of great things from Pryor.
"When you see him throw at practice, you watch him work and continue to get better every day, he just continues to impress you," Robiskie said. "For him to come out and take charge like he did ... he had a great day leading the offense."
Pryor, though, remains a work in progress at this level.

Boekman threw 1 pass which was badly under-thrown, then he was done for the day. I feel bad for him, he looks as if he wants to kill himself.
It would suck I mean, he's waited so long, he gray shirted and red shirted and sat on the bench for two years, and now he lost his job to a freshman.
Pryor will keep Bucks fans happy

W ITH the lead-in music building toward its da-da-da, da-da-da crescendo, the final image in a montage of highlights kicking off Saturday night's SportsCenter was a close-up of Ohio State wunderkind Terrelle Pryor.
He leaned into the camera, smiling, and said, "Every day you're a Buckeye, it's fun."
Think image-trampled Ohio State would have gotten that kind of exposure from ESPN if Todd Boeckman was still the quarterback?
Nope.
Of all the college football games played Saturday, only two - both showdowns of nationally-ranked teams - got higher billing from the World Wide Leader than Ohio State's relatively pedestrian 28-10 win over mid-major Troy.
Think the Buckeyes would have rated that kind of national attention if their precocious Vince Young clone wasn't the new face of a battle-scarred juggernot?
Nope.
Whether you agree or not with the timing, and the human sacrifice of a senior captain, the decision to start Pryor at Boeckman's expense was a much-needed Botox injection for a team that has redefined "ugly" under the national spotlight.

Also, I think this improved passing game will also help his running. Ii just have the feeling that he is going to break at least a couple runs for big gains and TDs in the near future. His long run is only 23yds and although I had seen almost all of the games this year, I was still a bit suprised that he didn't have one that was at least 40. He'll get em though.
That's pretty damning, isn't it. I remember all they hype that Henne got for that very same reason before The Game in 2004. We'll see what happens.martinss01;1268194; said:one important factoid to note when it comes to who should be the starter and the qb rotation/or lack thereof.
no freshmen qb has ever won the game.
That really adds a whole new level to The Game. While some held out hope, most UM fans realize a loss is probable and are prepared for it (as much as one can be). If Todd wins, it's tough to stomach, but the cards were stacked against RR this season (frosh vs seniors), and OSU will have massive personnel turnover for next season. That's pretty damning, isn't it. Pryor could fail to progress an ounce from this point on, and he'd still be far ahead of Reggie ball.Otherwise people will start comparing him with Reggie Ball.
