That won't work on the Big Ten level. His mechanics need work. And Bauserman has a better arm and knowledge right now.

And did you watch how powerful his throws were as a pure arm thrower? Once he learns to use his legs and his body he will have the strongest arm on the team, bar none.

Look, I know you are just trying to be contrary and skeptical as you have been all off-season, but your not making sense. You are trying to decide the 2009 starter when TP has only a handful of practices in 2008.

You don't have the rocket armed thrower who hasn't learned how to be a passer yet, throwing in the red zone. ESPECIALLY when the guy is a physical freak of nature as a runner.

That would be like having a slow footed passing QB named Greg Frey run an option play deep in our own end on 4th and 1 in The Game tied 13-13. The idea of coaching/leadership is to maximize your players strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Unless of course your name is John F Cooper or you think like he does.

You refer to the past to compare Pryor to a present day Joe Bauserman...yet you refuse to give Pryor the same indulgence by accepting the fact that he will have intense coaching for the next year before this is even an issue.

If Pryor is only an "arm thrower" right now...imagine how much more velocity he will have once he learns to use that enormous frame.

Count on Pryor getting 20% of offensive snaps this season...

Agreed completely, he has all the tools. Daniels and the coaching staff are dedicated to getting Pryor educated on the offense and making a more complete passer. Above all, Terrelle Pryor is a competitor. He just seems very focused and is the type of player you want to go to war with. Throw aside the fact that he is an amazing player, this guy is a great leader, has a great work ethic, and never will accept defeat. Yes, he will have to work on his progressions, his mechanics, and grasping the playbook like any yungun. I like to hear "20%"...he is going to be a game changer on offense for us. I wanna see Saine, Posey, and Thomas on the field with Pryor at the same time in a special package...it's just too much speed to handle. Anyways, I'm just off dreaming now.

I think people are really underrating Terrelles throwing.
Also I think in the 1st two games we will see a lot of Pryor in the classic drop back passer way, to get experience and whatnot, game film to look at.
Then he will be used completly different in the USC game, he will be used much more as an athlete.
Thats just my gut feeling.

Think about it this way... you get the #1 overall recruit... and you bench him? After all the time and effort spent convincing him to come play for us?

Did we redshirt Beanie in 2006? Did we start Maurice Wells over Beanie in 2007 because of experience?

A package like mentioned earlier with Saine and Thomas imagine the speed. Dare I say SEC like. DC headache number 33 during OHIO STATE preparations. He hast to get his feet wet, why not in a year with a 10th year Senior?

TP is here for three years, and he didn't come here to sit on the pine to preserve a red shirt, run the scout team, hold a clipboard, or be the backup to a minor league pitcher.

If TP doesn't play football this year, and significant minutes at that, he might as well just throw his name in the NBA lottery, or ask Matta if he's taking any walk-ons this season.

I don't think I am really far out of step with the consensus on Pryor in terms of expectations. What bothers me is the implication that because he is "special" he will be treated special.

Yes, the coaches are working intensely to improve his mechanics. But I trust they are doing the same with Bauserman. Pryor should get some experience that might help next year - but so should Bauserman.

Do I personally think Bauserman will win the battle on the field in 09? No. But any advantage Pryor gets he will earn in practice. It wont be given to him because of his immense promise.
