QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Swing pass to Braxton out of the backfield should have been a play that we used at least 2 or 3 times per game to get him the ball on the flank vs a LB and on the move. No idea why it never happened.

Double swing with Zeke and Brax out wide with JT a threat to run as well as the other guys downfield should be basically unstoppable

Agreed. The limited numbers of touches he got and the limited creativity in the touches he did get is one of the most perplexing and disappointing parts of the season. I get that he's raw as a receiver and he's not a great blocker but there are ways to scheme around those deficiencies for an athlete of his caliber. I see teams every week do it. It's not the most complicated thing in the world.

Agreed. This was the most disappointing thing offensively this year. We had the two time offensive MVP and we essential threw his abilities away for 12 games.

Like you mentioned it isn't rocket science in how you get a guy like Braxton the Ball.

That's how the whole offense was though. For as much explosiveness we had on offense we really struggled breaking those explosive plays. We were extremely easily to contain somehow all year disregarding all the talent we had which shows just how sorry Beck is.

It was a travesty that we never saw a talent like his utilized properly. Part of the problem was execution. The perimeter blocking was lousy early in the year and improved to adequate at best. The protection was suspect and often had both QBs fleeing before Braxton, Curtis and others could get 15 yds into their intermediate route.

That said, the use of constraint plays and harmony in the playcalling left a lot to be desired.

I don't see what everyone is complaining about. It was all part of the plan. Brax was a wide receiver and we don't throw the ball EVER. I mean everyone talks about how one dimensional Bama is, yet they had 500 more passing yards this season and 200 less rushing yards. LSU is only a couple hundred behind us in passing yardage. This was not because of any deficiency by braxton, it was just the zeke and jt running show for the last half of the season. I don't even know why they marched 11 guys out there every play when only 8 were ever used, 6 blockers and 2 runners.

ONE MORE SHOT: BRAXTON MILLER GETS ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY AT POSTSEASON GLORY

65365_h.jpg,qitok=d-B_qW41.pagespeed.ce.nelJHaTALo.jpg

When the Buckeyes take on Notre Dame on New Year’s Day, it will be Braxton Miller’s last opportunity to win a bowl game at Ohio State. The dynamic fifth-year senior burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2011, taking over for He Who Shall Not Be Named, and helped lead his team to an appearance in the Gator Bowl.

Ohio State fell in that contest, 24-17, in Miller’s first postseason opportunity, largely because there was nothing special about the Buckeyes’ special teams that day. A blocked punt for a score and a kickoff return for another pretty much sunk Ohio State and its athletic freshman quarterback. But that season will always be notable for this play:

That win probably gave the powers that be at Ohio State the (ultimately) false hope that a division title and potential BCS bowl game payday was still within reach. That turned out to be a mirage. Had Ohio State self-imposed a bowl ban after that Wisconsin game, 2012 might have been vastly different. Then again, maybe not. Aside from Mark Emmert, who knows for sure?

Somebody said in a different thread that Cardale should get the start at QB for one play as a nod of respect. I'm not big on phony signs like that....but I think if they were going to start somebody other than JT for symbolic reasons, it should be Braxton. Hell....let him do a pop-pass to get some passing yards. He's earned it. He's given more for this program than he's gotten in return....through no fault of anybody but his injury....and he deserves a little in-game 'thank you'.

I have a feeling Coach Meyer is going to show Braxton and Cardale some love in this game. He knows he has to and has had a month to prepare.
I hope Coach Meyer game plans in a manner that gives tOSU the best opportunity to defeat ND, and to defeat them soundly. If he tries to showcase 1-2 players, it isn't fair to the rest of the team. I got the feeling early in the year he was trying to showcase Braxton and, except for a couple of highlight reel plays, it wasn't real successful. What does he owe them that he doesn't owe every other member of the team (operative word being team)?

What did he owe Evan Spencer with that deep ball he threw against Bama when he could've just ran the ball three downs in a row and ran out the clock? He has a history of doing this for individual players.
