No Matter His Position, Braxton Miller is Still One of the Most Respected Players in the Big Ten
When a player wins two Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Awards, he deserve respect around his conference.
Even after sitting out a season due to injury and switching from quarterback to wide receiver, Braxton Miller is still feared by opposing Big Ten teams.
“The unknown is the role that Braxton picks up from here on out because I’m sure they’ll be something there,” Minnesota interim head coach Tracy Claeys said on Tuesday’s Big Ten Teleconference. “How well we handle that will probably have a big part in the outcome of the game.”
The Gophers face Ohio State Saturday night, so it’s only natural for Claeys to talk about Buckeye players, but this response was unprompted. Claeys was asked about the preparation for Cardale Jones now that J.T. Barrett is suspended and turned it into a replay about Miller.
He did this in his press conference with the local media as well. When asked about the change in quarterback altering his defensive plans, Claeys said the team has prepared for both quarterbacks, but turned the attention to Miller once again.
“So it's the unknown of what Braxton's going to do is what's probably going to have a big impact on the game,” he said again. “So that's the thing. We'll prepare as well as we can for it, but that's where the adjustment is at. I'm sure he's going to take on a bigger role. I just don't know what that is.”

Braxton Miller injury update: Ohio State WR 'all right' after hitting head on turf

After a huge catch, Braxton Miller had to be helped off the field and looked rattled.
re than anything else this season, Ohio State fans have been hoping that Braxton Miller could finish the season completely healthy, as he transitioned from a quarterback to a wide receiver. There have been no issues with his surgically repaired shoulder, but there was cause for Buckeye fans to worry late in the Minnesota game.
After hauling in a 45-yard bomb from Cardale Jones to put the Buckeyes at the Minnesota 24, Miller's head appeared to slam into the turf. Miller was eventually able to leave the field of play after being helped off by Ohio State staff, but was unable to return to action against the Golden Gophers.
Miller had five carries for 11 yards in the game, as well as the 45 yard catch. In his postgame press conference, Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer said he expected Miller will be alright. He added the team should know more tomorrow though didn't seem to think it'd be a serious issue moving forward.

MILLER EXPECTED TO BE FINE
Braxton Miller left the game in the fourth quarter and did not return after he appeared to injure his head following a 45-yard catch. Miller’s head smacked against the Ohio Stadium turf and he was down on the field for a few minutes before being helped off the field for a pair of trainers.
After the game, Meyer said he expects Miller will be fine.
“I think he’ll be all right,” Meyer said. “I think he just got the wind knocked out of him or dinged a little bit. I’ll know more [Sunday].”
Elliott said he also spoke to Miller and he also expects one of the Buckeyes’ most dangerous offensive weapons to be OK.
“He’s all right, he just hit his head real hard,” Elliott said. “He doesn’t have a concussion or anything he just hit his head hard on the ground.”
Meyer will likely provide a full update Monday during his weekly press conference, but right now it doesn’t seem to be a serious injury for Miller.

I thought it might have been his shoulder getting tweaked again because he turtles up and looks a bit hurt before he even gets hit or taken to the ground.
Glad its basically nothing and he should recover.

He did seem to grab at his shoulder when he went down IIRC. But it did look like the back of his head slammed the ground pretty good. Just hope he's ok.

B1G TELECONFERENCE: URBAN MEYER SAYS BRAXTON MILLER 'GOOD TO GO' FOR SATURDAY'S GAME AT ILLINOIS BARRING A SETBACK
When Braxton Miller leaped to haul in a long pass from Cardale Jones on Saturday and came down, he smacked the back of his head on the Ohio Stadium turf and did not get up for a few minutes. The crowd of over 108,000 was silent.
Miller was able to get off and walk off the field with some assistance from the training staff, but did not return to the game. He looked woozy on the sideline, but after the game Buckeyes' head coach Urban Meyer said he thought Miller just "got the wind knocked out of him."
Meyer said Monday that Miller did not practice for third-ranked Ohio State on Sunday, and that the status of his starting H-receiver for this weekend's game at Illinois remained up in the air. On Tuesday, however, speaking on the Big Ten coaches weekly teleconference, Meyer said he expects Miller to play against the Fighting Illini barring any setbacks.
“He’s good to go. He’ll practice [Tuesday]," Meyer said. “I met with him [Monday], his neck is still a little sore, he’s getting treatment. He kind of snapped it on the ground there.
"He’s full-go, ready to go for Saturday if he has a good week.”
Miller has 20 catches for 325 yards and three touchdowns along with 218 yards rushing and an additional score this season for Ohio State in his first year as a wide receiver.

Hoping they dial up some different plays for Miller this week or at least use him as a deep threat (if Barrett has time). Anyone know why they haven't used him in quick screens in the flats, where there are 2-3 WRs and it's just a quick pitch and catch? I remember a lot more of that with Corey Brown, specifically against MSU in 2012 and it worked fairly well, like an extended run. Seems like the easiest way to get him the ball without all the congestion around the LOS. A lot of what has been called for Miller hasn't made a lot of sense and I'm hoping he can be more successful down the stretch.

Researching the Magic!
I can't recall too many (if any) pitch/lateral plays with Miller, which seems like a perfect play for him. Maybe he hasn't developed the hands/awareness as a WR for those yet? Hopefully if they insist on using the BraxCat this weekend we'll finally see him either throw a quick out or pitch it.
