QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

I agree 100% with what you said and the tact you went about with saying it. Finally someone else is able to at least admit that Braxton isnt going to be a world beater this year, and that all he sitting on is strictly potential and possibilities of his future. Will he be the next Troy Smith? Its just as good of a chance of that happening as it is him being the next Justin Zwick (another highly touted incoming QB).

I know that Miller is our future and its okay to see Joe step aside, but the manner at which other "fans" are speaking of Joe is incredibly disrespectful to a guy that actually played 5 years and was recruited by the great university in which we all adore - not something anyone can really say on here.

Alright Cochise... couple things... to this quoted post and a few of the others.

1. We don't need a savior or a world beater. We need competence. We have not had competence from either, really, but doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is... yeah, you know.

2. Yeah, yeah, "Strictly Potential" - See what we've really got is a 5 star QB with little game experience and a 2 Star QB with a little game experience. The "ceiling" here is about this season too. Not putting all my stock in recruting ratings by any means. But, you get the idea.

3. For some reason, I take offense to the idea that Miller being the next Justin Zwick is a bad thing. No one knows what Justin Zwick might have done had he not been beaten out by a kid that won the Heisman freaking trophy.

4. Let's not feel too bad for the Baus. Kid got to play pro baseball for a few years, then be, if for a short time the starting QB at Ohio State. Sometimes shit doesn't work out. But, he got to do some cool stuff, and I'm sure he will in the future. If this is the short end of the stick, sign me up.

OT a bit, but I saw a little bit of a "classic" Buckeye game on BTN that featured Zwick. I'd forgotten what a lightning-quick release and classic form he had.

Just goes to show what a crapshoot QB can be. Everyone thought Ryan Leaf was the balls when he was drafted. And I thought Cam Newton would be Instant Bust.

Ah, you're seeking attention not a discussion. Got it. Carry on.
this is his schtick. He scolds the entire website repeatedly for some alleged irrational posts that he refuses to quote, so we are all left to suffer his wrath as he constructs strawmen endlessly.

Seems to me that
everyone is certainly capable of bringing up Joe's dismal performance but as soon as you meantion that Braxton fumbled the ball or threw incomplete passes (forcing yet another punt) people get butt hurt and make excuses. It will be interesting to see the excuses fly this week when Braxton looks a bit green in the pocket. I get it that the kid has GOOD size, speed, and what SEEMS to be a decent arm against high school opponents (Akron included), but I guess everyone calling him to be our savior will get their wish to check out his game in both an average (Colorado) as well as sizable (Mich State) test in the coming weeks.

SEREbuckeye;1996767; said:
All Im getting at is that if you search through the BP threads since last Saturday you will find a plethora of posters scream that BM is going to be our savior.

Even with that said people are using Braxton's name in the same sentence of words like: "Troy Smith", "Heisman", "great arm", "Great throwing motion", "great running abilities", etc.
on top of being rude, lazy and divisive, he is arguing with no one, so even if he was wrongly thinking of nightmare's post...

Miller to start?

OK - I was at Troy Smith's first start. He ended up winning the Heisman.

So, who wants to give me two tickets for the Colorado game?

A little insurance never hurts..........

... no one would ever know and he can just reload with another barrage of strawmen.

Then to to it off, he makes sure no one ascribes an opinion to him that wasn't his

I NEVER once said Miller shouldnt be the starter this week. All I talked about was the unbacked bragging on Miller over a few plays - the type of talk we would be quick to shut down if it was coming from an opposing fan base on their QB - as well as the borderline rooting against Joe.

Sorry if I hurt your feeling or offended you man (BrutusBobcat), I mean it.
you're right Sere, there is a major problem with unfair and hyperbolic criticism of buckeyes. That kind of nonsense has no place on BP

Brax will have the best O-line we've had in years to work behind!
The best TE.
The best blocking fullback we've had in many years!
A terrific back in Jordan Hall.
And a guy that is getting better every game in Carlos Hyde.
We have a solid field goal kicker in Basil.
We have a terrific punter in Buchannon.
Philly Brown should return next week and will help spread the field.
And when Posey returns, as good a WR as there is in the BIG.
Adams will make the O-line even better.
Herron will be even better than Hall.
There's a lot on this team to help Brax be a success this year!

They have to 100%, without a doubt, shorten the field for Braxton this week. I dont mean starting at the opponents 40, that would be nice, but I mean shortening his reads. The same way Tress did with Troy. Call the plays in the huddle, only audible in obvious situations and make his reads 1, 2, GO. Plays to the side of the field he has his first option, checkdown and then go get yardage with your feet. Keep chains moving and feed the stable of horses. Thats what I want to see.

I dont want him trying to diagnose the defense all day, thats the coordinators job. Let him get his feet wet and the confidence up and maybe take a shot deep once in a while to keep the defense honest. Thats it. Saturday is a confidence builder to see if he can lead this team. Don't turn it over and keep the chains moving. I cant wait to see how he does.

I get that he's a true freshman, and Im willing to give him the pass on that. HOWEVER when posters on here are saying he has "great" abilities - not "good", not "okay", not "potential" - but "great", they are then hyping him up. When he doesnt deliever all they do is give some weak and lame excuses as to why he didnt live up to the hype.
Geez...whatcha got against Brax and claiming he's a savior??? I mean, it's not like it's been put up on billboards next to the freeway or in the tags section on BP.
:paranoid:

Shorten the read and then take off if it isn't there..you'll have many more games in the future to prove your a pocket passer..Coaches let Miller sprint out some then he only has half the field to read...As Baus as proved a throwaway is not the worse that can happen..Called QB runs are fine but get the running backs going before calling them..if Hall and Hyde are effective then the QB run can work..
