QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

And when Quinn Ewers flipped to the Buckeyes from the Texas Longhorns last November, it was the tireless work of Dennis that made it happen.

“Quinn took a liking to him,” Curtis Ewers, Quinn’s father, told Lettermen Row. “As parents, we watched to see how things developed — with numerous other [coaches] as well, obviously — and Corey was always that guy who seemed so genuine and honest.

“He recruits hard, real hard and always brought energy and enthusiasm to any topic of conversation. He complemented Coach Day well, too. That’s not to say [Ryan] Day isn’t genuine — because he’s very genuine. But Corey was that constant voice of the program when Day was running it, at least to Quinn. He’s younger than most but maintained the reverence and had answers to key questions. He’s too young to have been corrupted by the system. I’m kind of kidding, maybe, but there’s something to that.”

Love hearing this about Corey! I know some thought he was too young for the position and was another nepotism hire, but he’s showing he absolutely deserved this position, and Ewers is a monster haul! He could be a future OC soon

Here's a look at some of the notable high school performances including a strong group of '24 quarterbacks and our overall Top Performer (Alpha Dog) left no doubt who had the best overall weekend.

Alpha Dog

Quinn Ewers, Southlake (Texas) Carroll- Ohio State commit: Ewers was the guy everyone was talking about all weekend including the college quarterbacks. The ball just comes out of his hand differently and no one threw a tighter ball with more velocity then Ewers. 'He's got some Pat Mahomes in him the way he throws it,' Bryce Young said. 'The kid is legit, he can really spin it," Miller Moss said. "I can see why he's the top No. 1 guy, he's special,' D.J. Uiagalelei said. The comments just kept coming all weekend long and it wasn't just how good he threw it that stood out about Ewers but his approach.

We mentioned the environment at the camp is always pretty loose and relaxed and most of the other quarterbacks go through the drills at about 70% intensity. Ewers competed hard in every drill we saw and it was refreshing to see. When you critique his skill set in terms of his arm talent, release, mobility and ability to throw in and out of the pocket from different arm angles, as well as change speeds and throw down the field with touch, it's no wonder some are calling him the best quarterback prospect to come out of the H.S ranks since Trevor Lawrence four years ago

Always great to see that a Buckeye commitment gains the respect of fellow QBs. Hopefully, the 'alpha' OLmen will want to be seen on TV pancaking the DL from (insert name of victim here), on THEIR way to NFL stardom.......and the WRs, RBs, and the D. Good for Quinn. PS, from the snippets above, he really does have a nice release, velocity and accuracy. How does he look in S&G? Go Bucks!

Of course the film to this point has been remarkable and I already felt that he was one of the best QB prospects I have ever seen, but reading the unanimous glowing remarks to that effect is awfully nice to hear. Really hoping that we can hang on to Quinn until the ink dries...I have no reason to think that he won't right now but with his talent, every program in the country is going to come full-court press and you know some will dirty recruit (or at the very least simply point out the depth we have acquired).

Side note, hopefully him and Stroud hit it off at the camp and start developing a relationship. The article mentioned that Stroud could develop into a 3 and done player, with Ewers getting a year to redshirt and learn the program, then take the reigns. Of course McCord and Miller will have something to say about all that, and it is conjecture how Stroud or any of our other QBs turn out...but if that is the future that Ewers sees as likely, it is a scenario I could see keeping him in the fold.
