QB Prentiss "Air" Noland (Official Thread)

Southpaw Stroud. Not a plus athlete, but the man can sling the rock with a velvet touch.

He looks athletic, just not 'scrambler athletic' to me. He's got a real smooth natural bounce in his drop backs and is light on his toes, chops his feet, etc. Seems comfortable back there, keeps his eyes downfield, and those are the most difficult things to 'teach' since it's more about having that innate calm demeanor.

His lower half mechanics otherwise were a bit all over the place with weight distribution, but those are things he can work on more when he gets on campus.

I can't wait to see how he looks when he's grown into his body more and has aged a few years, gained 15+ pounds, etc. He will really be able to sling it all over and he already has that natural touch so I can definitely see the Stroud comparisons.

Noland showed why he was so highly pursued by the Buckeyes via his crisp play on the day. His improvement over the past year is extremely impressive and gives us even more confidence that he can be Ohio State's quarterback of the future. Arm strength and precision passes were two staples of his game during the camp and he proved capable of dropping the ball with pinpoint accuracy at every level of the field.

Noland says he is as solid as can be with the Buckeyes and look for Ohio State to keep his pledge through signing day.

We don’t usually put Rivals250 prospects on the stock up list but Noland was really impressive on Sunday and deserves to be higher in the Rivals250. Ohio State’s quarterback commit has a much more refined and powerful delivery than he did this time last year and he threw with more consistent accuracy.

Noland has a really solid build and did a great job displaying his mobility during various drills before 1-on-1s started. Even though he’s a lefty, it didn’t seem like receivers had a hard time catching the balls that were coming their way. This fall it will be interesting to see the improvement he’s made when it comes to quickly dissecting defenses and getting the ball to his receivers when they pop open.

With the way he's playing this off season, on top of what he did last season. I don't see him letting off the gas in his senior season. I can see Noland finishing as a top 5 QB in this class before he signs with OSU. He's that freaking good, and only getting better.

I wish we had recent success with a QB who shot up the rankings out of nowhere to tell if there's any kind of track record to lean on.

Yeah he has improved by all accounts and still is not near his ceiling, which is incredibly high. Day & company are such great evaluators on QBs. Feeling a lot like CJ Stroud up in here with the way Noland has shot up the rankings and improved so much. I have to admit that I am really excited to see a southpaw at QB, I can't remember having one at OSU during my lifetime. Anyone know the last lefty we had at QB?

Bellisari. It...didn't go well.

Edit: but I am also kinda excited to see a lefty.

Forgot he was a lefty, that was right in my infancy of Buckeye fandom in terms of what I can remember. I do remember, however, how awful he was...tough to forget that. I would be willing to bet a few shekels that Air's career will be better.
Yeah, if I had to guess he's gonna be closer to the Stroud end of the spectrum than Bellisari.
