Seemingly choosing to name your dog after a more-than-once accused sexual predator was the thing that jumped out to me about that tweet.

Dogs also “size each other up” before a fight and I find it strange that your brain instantly went to gay dog sex.

Herbie was singing the praises of new Oklahoma starting QB Caleb Williams last night, half-seriously asking if he could be a a Heisman candidate, despite hardly playing in their first 5 games. He was saying that nobody stands out, who are the Heisman candidates?, and mentioned Bryce Young, Matt Corral, I think Pickett at Pitt and Bijan Robinson at Texas, maybe 1 or 2 others, and he never managed to utter the name of a guy who’s currently playing the same position, for the same team, where he played in college; and is currently the third favorite among Vegas oddsmakers.

I honestly believe that the ESPN crew has been told to mention Stroud as little as possible, to try to help one of the SEC guys win the Heisman. And last night Herbie was being a team player by not mentioning Stroud’s name. And of course, neither did Fowler as Herbie was rambling for a while, speculating about candidates.

The ironic thing is that by only hyping SEC candidates, they’ll all take votes away from each other

"I still argue — I think Ohio State, if you go down the line, and the Big Ten's a fascinating conference, most of the big boys were idle last week, but I look at Ohio State and, while they've improved defensively, we really don't know how good they are until they start this week, going to Bloomington, they get Penn State at home the next week and then you go down the line," Herbstreit said on a recent episode of EPSN's College Football Podcast. "They get Purdue, they've got Nebraska on the road. You've got Michigan State, you've got Michigan. It's game on. You're going to find out how good you are, right?

"And I think, as we sit here right now, middle of the season, they're the most explosive team offensively — maybe in the country, but definitely the Big Ten. I think (C.J.) Stroud is settled in. He's got the best trio of receivers. You've got running backs, you've got (offensive) line. You've got (Jeremy) Ruckert, an NFL tight end. They're going to score. How much have they improved defensively? They've changed defensive coordinators, essentially, and we'll find out how much they've improved."

2. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

Rain or shine, Ohio State continues to dominate in the Big Ten this season. Since the Buckeyes' Week 2 loss to Oregon, they've harassed the competition and have jumped back into the top five (and Herbstreit's top two) with precision on offense and ferocity on the other side of the football. Ohio State has won its past five games by an average of more than 40 points per contest, including Saturday night's 47-point shellacking of Indiana.

Heading into the open week prior to beating the Hoosiers, Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day said his team was maintaining their focus. The rhythm he mentions didn't stop against Indiana, either.

“I feel like we’ve gotten better but we can’t all of a sudden stall during a bye week and take a huge deep breath and not get better,” Day said. “There’s things about the bye week you really enjoy. There’s other things you wish you continued on the routine because we have gotten into a rhythm here.”
