"Do yourselves a favor and make plans for Pasadena." - Kirk Herbstreit this morning at #msr2013 @Columbus_Sports

He has to walk a tightrope between being a highly-paid ESPNer, and a closet Buckeye Faithful. ESPN has a 'mad on' for the B10, and tOSU in particular, and Herbie makes millions a year for a company that would like to nuke tOSU.
He's the 'heir apparent' to Mushberger, and Mushmouth doesn't hesitate to gig Herbie about 'his' Buckeyes (probably just to put Herbie in hot water with the bosses), and so it's quite natural that Herbie downplays tOSU accomplishments to prove he's not a 'homer'. Not sure how it's OK for Holtz to be a clear-cut Domer homer, but not Herbie. [Mark May] for Pitt, who cares? Yeah, it's a line I wouldn't be able to walk, not even for the millions Herbie makes. Well, maybe.....

ESPN Signs Herbstreit Through 2022
New Deal Includes Booth Assignments for Upcoming College Football Playoff
By: Tim Baysinger Jun 27 2013
ESPN has signed college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit through 2022, the company announced Thursday.
Herbstreit will continue to be in the booth for ABC's Saturday Night Football package, as well as call the Rose Bowl and BCS Championship. When the new College Football Playoff begins in January 2015, he will call one national semifinal and the national championship game each year. He remains as coanalyst on ESPN College GameDay.
Herbstreit will now be joined by ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd for weekly Tuesday appearances on College Football Live in the fall.
"Kirk Herbstreit is synonymous with college football's biggest stage and moments. He is at the top of his game and he's ours into the next decade. We're thrilled," said John Wildhack, ESPN executive VP, production.

He went so far as to say if he were a parent of an offensive player that he wouldn't send him to Ohio State. I'll never let that go. We all had our problems with Jim Tressel's offense, but to be a national "analyst" saying this on national television went too far. He goes out of his way to beat up on Ohio State. That may change now that Urban Meyer is here, but you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube. Herbstriet has/had a clear problem with Ohio State and their fans and he never missed a chance to take a shot at the Buckeyes and certainly never defended them like he has other programs (SEC, USC, etc.).
