QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

We are often harshest with and hardest on the ones we love the most.

Not true. For example... SmoovP, you can go eat a bag of dicks. See? I don't know you from Adam and I was harsh.

Seriously... he's just a drama queen and we should all just let him go on with his life. If he wants to call himself a Buckeye... well, fine then.

Whatevs...

wait you mean non-osu fans don't notice or care when he is classless or unfair to OSU? Shocking. :so:

Most of the nation has no idea and / or cares that, nor should they unless they are a rival enjoying the slam:

He argued on ESPN that no offensive prospect should want to play for Tressel

That he slandered three innocent kids on national tv and never took it back, a month over bending over backwards to take back and repent for calling mcgloin a handoff QB.

Goes off the deep end with juvenile and emotional b10 hyperbole every six months, the big ten is equal to the MAC, Pryor would be addition by subtraction, the big ten is set back ten years, Steve breaston is worthless, etc.

That he penalized OSU four spots for winning a bowl game and lied through his teeth about why two times, hiding behind his radio partner lobbing softballs and using his typical manipulative methods shaming listeners that would dare to question his actions

He has had a three year long feud with an immature kid in Pryor, privately and publicly.

Except he was slobbering all over himself to apologize to Lloyd Carr after the Steve Breaston comment. How ironic...

Exactly true, I don't believe in spreading untruths and until such time that Herbie says he is no longer a fan then I take him as one. Yet some of posters here refer to him as a liar even after reading his comments in the Dispatch.
I kind of think that questioning a Buckeye about his loyalties, a Buckeye whose father was a Captain, and who also was a Captain leaves me a little to be desired.
You say that a LOT of people in the whac don't like him, well boo hoo. That's not proof to me, nor a reason for untruths.
So all I can say is take a crap or get off the pot.

[sarcasm] It's not true unless it's in a chain e-mail [/sarcasm]

Where's Gator's hide behind the couch emoticon now? :paranoid: :p

very true.

WTF does that have to do with Herbie?

I have 4 sons. My expectations for them, because I love them so much, are much higher than my expectations for your son.

When they are fucking up, I am pretty hard on them because I truly believe that one of the most loving things I can do for them is to discipline them, even if they don't understand, think it is too harsh or not fair.

My wife, who loves them every bit as much as I do, doesn't have the exact same outlook or perspective on that. She thinks my discipline is sometimes too harsh.

And perhaps it is. She and I can disagree about that and still love them.

I say all that to say this: Perhaps Herbie is too harsh at times in what he says about OSU, but I doubt it is because he doesn't love the school.

If I were to guess, I'd have to say he is so harsh on OSU precisely because he loves it so much and his expectations are so high.

You may not agree with how he goes about expressing that, and that's fair, but to question his loyalty or love probably isn't.

It also doesn't explain the bronzer or overall doucheiness of the man.

I can actually buy that . . . and I yell shit at the TV in the privacy of my own home that's worse than anything he's ever said about OSU, but I don't do that shit in front of even a dozen people, much less a few million. If he wants to help the program via tough love, he can do it off the air.

Kirk Herbstreit said that no offensive recruit should want to play for Jim Tressel. That's about the equivalent of telling your son that he's such a dumbass that no girl should ever want to fuck him sober.

Honestly, I couldn't care less what Herbstreit, Mark May, or anyone else on TV has to say about OSU in regards to their performance. Doing things like naming names in the TatGate scandal during a game broadcast and saying that recruits shouldn't go to OSU have nothing to do with tough love and everything to do with him being a petulant bitch.

There are things that could possibly qualify as tough love...and then there's the postseason AP ballot in which he ranked OSU three places lower following the Sugar Bowl win. Mind you, that's only one example. See Buckeye513's post for a couple more.

I'm sorry, but IMO your explanation doesn't seem to be applicable.

I think he simply tries too hard to appear unbiased. It has to be on his mind whenever Ohio State comes up. I don't doubt he loves the university and the state. He just tries too hard to look like he doesn't.

But who are we to judge? We aren't in his shoes. I have no doubt a lot of us would do the same stupid thing. We make asses of ourselves on this board daily and we have no pressure to appear impartial.

There's a whole thread dedicated to judging JT. He has pressure on him too.

It's amazing how so many other guys get a paycheck from ESPN without going full retard on their former schools.
