QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Brain with a Lunatic Fringe)

I like Herbstreit and think he does a good job and wish he was still doing games with Musburger. I know that's not a popular opinion around these parts so I Just hope I don't get 2 behind my ear tonight as I walk to my car.

I have to seriously ask, "Why?".
He adds less than bopkess as far as his commentary. It lacks substance. It hinges completely on his warped perception on what's actually critical in a game, for a team, and how to be successful. When it comes to CFP commentators, he is definitely a mid-to-low level operative in my IMO.

Given ESPN’s incapacity to provide significant statistical and historical context, its first telecast of the first official college football championship, Monday night, was its worst. And by far.
Another ESPN jump-up-and-down-in-your-blue-suede-shoes-big-deal ESPN telecast gone bad. Another pre-pounded, until-our-eyes-and-ears-leaked-hydraulic-fluids game, followed by another production drowned, by ESPN design, in excess:
Irrelevant stats and graphics, needless cutaways from the field, Disney cross-promos and requisite faux-slick commentary from Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit that included “vertical passing schemes,” “moving the chains,” “reaching the second level” and “downhill attacks.”

It was bad. e!spn is all sizzle and no steak. They couldn't care less about analysis, or insight. Just throw your top two idiots on the program to spew clichés. I would have killed to hear Spielman call that game.

To be fair they did have the Film Room (complete with Spiels) for people with a brain.
Just wish it dedicated screen space to the game instead of them sitting around with their computers and tablets

Can anyone that defends Herbie explain to me why tOSU losing to LSU by 14 in New Orleans is embarrassing, yet Oregon losing by 22 to tOSU in Texas isn't?

I mean, for all of the talk about how much he loves tOSU and he's just being "unbiased", you would think getting beat by another TD at a neutral site would be at least AS embarrassing as getting beat by less in the other teams backyard.

What a fucking tool.
