QB Kirk ‘Nightmare On’ Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Afraid of THE Lunatic Fringe)

I was saying before the Penn State game that I was surprised JT didn't ban twitter. I agree with TP, but it doesn't make it right to post on Twitter. Herbie can say whatever he wants. But it was such a great story when Pat McGroin called out Herbie, but not so much with TP.

Not banning Twitter to me seems consistent with JT's overall approach: While he seems to be less trusting of his players talents on the field than I might sometimes like (and his record suggests that he's probably more right than I am), off the field I think he generally thinks that it's important to let them develop into adults by giving them room to make their own mistakes and helping them learn from the consequences (notwithstanding Mel Tucker's bicycle). With all his mastery of using a lot of words to say nothing, his single most honest and clear public statement was probably "it's not about the ball."

Herbie does a tremendous job on ESPN. He calls it like he sees it. Tressel should make Pryor apologize for such a ridiculous comment. Kid has to grow up.

why should he apologize if thats how he felt? These political 'I apologize to anyone who was offended by my comment' apologies are for the birds. These kids probably shouldn't use twitter and facebook for comments like these, but to apologize for something he believes in is lame.

If he really believes that then it's a shame, because I think he's letting his ego get in the way of objective thinking.. To insult a former OSU QB and alum in that manner because he's on TV giving his fair assessment of a situation, is immature IMO... To do so using Twitter is even more immature... to still leave the comment up after having a night to sleep on it is even more ridiculous..

Your right, he shouldn't apologize, he should just start growing up like he claims he wants to do while at Ohio St..

I think to challenge an alum's loyalty to his university is quite insulting.. I imagine Kirk finished his degree, so he's more of a Buckeye than Terrelle is at this point.

Pryor would be well-served to think of the criticism as coming from a former Buckeye captain rather than an ESPN analyst. Herbstreit knows what it's like to act as a leader in that uniform.

True.

However Kirk Herbstreit also didn't have to deal with former Buckeye QB Herbstreit openly criticizing Kirk Herbstreit while he was a Buckeye capitan either.

So there's that line of thinking too.

yeah...Herbie saying on national television...."why would any top rated high school recruit want to go to Ohio State?" is awesome.

Fuck Herbie

TP lead the team to an emotional come from behind win against the Hawkeyes on the road, and is sore as hell to boot. Now he's got a banged up shoulder to go with his geeked up knee. Stopping by the gym to bang against Lauderdale and Sullinger this summer was probably easier on his body than these last two football seasons have been.

What I don't think anybody will disagree on is that JT, TP, and Herbie all want nothing less than perfection out of the OSU program on every play.

So TP snapped. He also said in the post game he was 'pissed' and 'mad as hell' at Posey after the drop. Big deal. He'll decompress and this will blow over before the sun sets today. Nothing to see here, IMHO.

It shouldn't matter who is critical. You get plenty of criticism as the QB at a school like Ohio State. You have to have thicker skin. And if you don't, you can't show it.

Wait, I didn't know he said "why would any top rated recruit wanna go to Ohio State".

Man fuck Herbie. Thats bullshit to say something like that on TV about your alma mater, when we are 10-1.
He said it awhile ago, referring to the offense. 05? 04?
