QB Justin Zwick (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Iowa? I think that rumor lost all credibility.

1. He'd never play in the next 2 years behind Tate.
2. He'd have to sit out a year and only play one more.
3. Lost his scholarship.

How many players have ever transferred from starting Big Ten QB to D-III?

Why would he visit a Div III school and a Div I-AA school? No way would he transfer to either if he ever wants to sniff the NFL...well, maybe if YSU football was like in was in the '90s, but it ain't.

He doesn't lose a year if he goes to a lower division school. I just don't see a DIII school and he is not going to beat out Tate (?) at Iowa. I would agree that rumor is junk, but I would not be surprised if he is thinking about it.

Leader of the Troy Smith fan club

I've been really surprised by the sheer volume of posts from Zwick loyalists, especially on the BN board. This message is to them:

Whether you like it or not, you cannot dismiss Troy's performances in the last 5 games of the season. After his virtuoso performance against Michigan, we are so soon to forget that Tressel was holding back the play calling when TS was just beginning to plany in order to ease him into his new starting role. TS was one bad half (in which his receivers dropped everything that came their way) from going 5 - 0. I find it ironic that the same people who are dissecting Troy's performance this year and attempting to not give him any credit for wins are the same people who praised Krenzel the past two years for "just finding a way to win."

Wake up people.

The quarterback position is much more about leadership than it is measurables and ability (even though it could be argued that TS has better passing ability than JZ regardless). Troy is the leader of this team and players quotes ever since he took over have supported that. We should be excited about having such a dynamic quarterback at OSU, b/c his running ability works perfectly into Tressel's system.

Finally, anyone who played NCAA 2004 could have predicted that TS was the quarterback of the future:)

After getting some sleep, I remembered that this SAME conversation was had after CK filled in to beat Michigan.

Some wise person said "I heard from a very reliable source that Scott M is transferring to YSU" then a bunch of clowns piled on to say they heard the same thing.
I think it made it all the way to the TV News, or the Newark Advocate, before his mom came out and said "Scott likes it at OSU and is going to be finishing his career there".

So, I guess I will have to take this instance with a grain of salt.
FWIW, remember that some of the BNuts 'gurus' have implied that Zwick's injury is career threatening.

This rumor is crap. Why would Zwick transfer to another Big Ten school, lose his scholarship, and have to sit out a year? Yeah, I couldn't find the logic there either.

Why would he fall from OSU to Mt. Union. That is like leaving a job as the guy who gets to dump the water on the swimsuit models for a job as a pig breeder (don't worry BrettgoBlow, your job is still safe I'm just making a generalization).

IMO if he does leave it will be for a 1A school outside of Ohio and the Big 10. I think it all depends on how Smith plays in the bowl. If he plays like he did against SCum Zwick will probably go. If Smith doesn't look good in the bowl there could be a battle for the job again going into next year. I still think Zwick is the better QB, but just had bad luck with the way the season went this year.

I just don't see him even considering Iowa. WIth Tate there, he will be the backup for two more yrs. If he goes, which I really hope he doesn't, it will have to be to a I-AA school or Mount. He won't leave for one yr of playing time. His only chance at I-A is if he can negotiate a medical redshirt for his orginal redshirt year. That is unlikely, but always a slim possibility. He did have surgery, if I recall correctly.

Good luck to him, I hope he makes a solid choice and I hope he chooses to stay a Buckeye. He will be asked to perform many more times over the next two years.

Actually if I was Zwick and wanted to transfer my first 2 calls would be Miami U and Toledo. They both have QB's who will be seniors next year and might be willing to take him for 1 year of play. If he could put up and awesome year in the MAC he would get a shot in the NFL.
