QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

Oh, so that was Okudah flat on his back?

Wow!!! Like a freight train.
Nope that was number 5. And he knocked him out cold and he was put into concussion protocol.

Okudah is also not the guy he juked on his long run or as one of the announcer said made a business decision. Okudah did try to chase him down at the end though and lost the angle when he weaved

I was going to say, "your eyes are better than mine" bc I never saw a number of the player laying flat on the goaline in the numerous versions of the clip I saw. #30 tumbled and apparently #5 was flattened. Hope he's ok. Hell of a run by Fields. He wasn't going to be denied the endzone on that run.

I don't think this will embed due to being not a normal media site but here is the run.

And I hope my eyes stay good sudden appearance of floaters in both eyes at 35 make me worry about my future prospects. But getting a 2nd opinion next week no retinal tears by the first one.

as a Chicago resident I’ve seen pretty much every snap of him both at OSU and at the Bears

the #1 thing he’s gotten better at is pocket presence. his feel and ability to manipulate the pocket is night and day what it was at OSU

and then #2 it’s understanding he is the best player on the field and accepting that responsibility. at OSU you could win in so many ways with GW5, CO2, Dobbins, etc that he stuck around in the pocket and wouldn’t bail. Now he knows he can take the edge on almost anyone and just go

He is still struggling with throw anticipation / throwing open. If he takes that leap he’s going to be who we all think he can be

I think he has the same problem he had at OSU and Tua had his last year at Bama. He's always hunting the homerun which means he passes up the 5 yard slant on 2nd down and 10. He looks to slowly be getting better with it.

It's the one thing I thought Haskin's did better then him in college. Reading the D and taking what the D was giving him vs trying to always hit the homerun. Then the WR's hit the homerun anyways cause it was out on time with them in full stride.

Yeah that too. I think some of that is the playcalling and how they’re coaching him progressions though. Seems like his first read is often long developing routes down the field (home runs) or a scripted screen or dump off. I’m sure they are going to start giving him more week by week but ultimately what happens this off season in terms of scheme evolution is going to be critical to take the next leap.

but damn if it isn’t super fun to watch him just be a better athlete than everyone else every Sunday

Speaking of Okudah..... is that who he ran over and left on the ground on his TD run?

edit: I watched it again. don't think it was. Okudah is #1. He used to wear #30(?), so I was confused for a moment.

I do think that it was JO who made a last-ditch dive effort at the end of the play. I don’t think that JF trucked him, just outran him. For both of their careers, I’ll take outrunning him.

hopefully he's not hurt too bad. sounds like separated non-throwing shoulder.

currently think the Bears have #3 pick in the draft. opportunity to get a ton of value from someone wanting to move up for their QB, or go take one of the stellar d-linemen like Jalen Carter.
