QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

He is not the problem. I live in Chicago and watch every game. There is never anything easy. Everything is hard and Herculean because there is no space from scheme. And when he makes the play, it’s dropped.

0-3 in the red zone. Unreal.
I'm just waiting for them to pick defenders with their first 2 picks and ignore the offensive issues cause that feels very on brand for them

Fields elevated his teammates at OSU. He was not NFL ready ..,Haskins a cannon for an arm not NFL ready. Days job is to win games not make his QBs NFL ready. Bears coaching hasn’t had the patience or ability to see it and teach it. Throwing JF in the deep end of the pool then surprised when he drowns. I am a Bears fan and thought Nagy could have molded him but he was on borrowed time. The new coaching staff are dinosaurs. Mahomes is forever thankful the Bears overlooked him in the draft.

I didn't watch last night's game on purpose (because it was a shit TNF game), but keep thinking the same thought. When JF was drafted to Chicago, my face was in the palms of my hands because JF is legit one of my favorite players here for so many reasons (the biggest of which are him advocating for a season in the covid year when he could've just been a top 5 pick by not playing, and then that gutty Clemson performance where we exacted vengeance), and Chicago is where a QB goes to die. I mean, how the hell does anyone think any QB could do well in this offense where there were zero fucks given about an OL or skill position players? Tom Brady in his prime couldn't make this offense work.

JF needed a year to sit behind a vet and hone in his NFL skills, but was thrust in due to necessity when he was not ready and when he had no support. I could maybe forgive that, but then in year 2 the Bears do absolutely nothing in free agency or the draft to help JF out. To me, that's unforgiveable and if I were JF I would be demanding to be traded even if it's behind closed doors. The Bears didn't even feign trying to get Justin the help he needed. Hopefully JF gets justice by trade and ends up with a team he can actually succeed with.

New Coach/GM combo looks like they want a Rush, Mac Jones, Garapolo type to compliment what they think is an “elite” defense. It’s what you get with a defensive coach in an offense league.

It’s not just how awful that FO has been the last two years, but look at the other factors as well….this is a franchise whose best modern QB is Jay Cutler.

That stadium is hell to play in as a QB. There’s a reason Minnesota, Detroit, and even GB (they installed warmers under the field) have gone to indoor stadiums or installed systems to mitigate the weather.

It’s just an awful situation for a QB who has to play 8/9 games in really challenging conditions. Then add that horrific roster……ouch.

I pose the question again… did Shanny fuck up by not drafting Fields… i’m pretty sure that was the ideal situation for Fields and it seems like Fields is paying the price now… Shanny may or may not sooner or later…

Look at the Browns….they’d be substantially better with Fields than Brissett at moment, and even when Watson comes back, how much of an upgrade is he, when the Browns are such a run heavy team? I didn’t understand that trade for CLE to begin with, but if you wanted an athletic game manager, go get someone like Fields.
