QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

JF appears to be holding the ball way too long. That’s when he isn’t being buried behind the horrible line they have. It was hard to see the routes being run with the camera work, so not sure if it was due to no separation, long routes being run or what. With the way they were running it you would think that would open things up for some play action passes.

He's always had that tendency. He'd wait on plays at OSU with a 5 yard gain first read wide open for someone to come open 20 yards down field. It's the one thing I thought Haskins was better at then him. Getting the ball out on time. Though CJ is probably the best of all 3 at it. That worked with OSU's recievers against most competition we played. It won't work the dog crap the Bears have. So he need to fight that.

He had too many wide open receivers in college. He either doesn’t understand what NFL open is or won’t throw them open. He trust his legs over his arm or eyes. And his receivers aren’t the Dolphins or Raiders. His TE Kmet sucks,

His recievers aren't even the Lions without their first without Williams. They are really bad

I'm not sure he trusts his legs over his eyes. A few times there he just looked and looked until he was sacked. Vs trying to run it. I just don't think he trusts his eyes or his wr's are suck drek they aren't open. And he really hates throwing to the checkdown to get 3-5 when he is used to being able to make huge plays from college

That was most certainly JF's biggest weakness was decisiveness and holding onto the ball too long. Problem is that (as you pointed out) the Bears are so bad on offense that Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in their prime couldn't make this work. I have no feeling about the Bears at all and am not trying to talk trash on them, but I love JF and all he did for the Buckeyes, so I was pretty sad to see Chicago as his landing spot. They give him zero support and likely will ruin him as an NFL QB at this pace (I would say the same for my own Bengals with Burrow since they can't block for him still). He pretty much just has to take off running to give his team a chance...not because he is not a great passer, but because nobody is open and/or his OL can't give him any time. When your best option to throw to is Darnell Mooney, that is a real problem, as is that porous OL. I will be praying for JF.

He was OK last night…..Chicago shot themselves in foot entire first half (outside of opening drive for TD) with constant early down penalties.

They kept false starting and getting behind the sticks.

Once they committed to the run, the game opened up much more.

I think it was a great learning experience game for Chicago and should help them be more balanced gling forward. They played GB pretty even in 2nd half, and Fields absolutely got robbed on a TD where he pushed pile over goaline but ball couldn’t be seen by camera.

Im just bummed cause more than anything I could see this kid crushing in an offense like Cleveland where they ask for very little from QB, but athletisicm is a premium…..and he’s stuck in Chicago.
