QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

Justin Fields signs for representation with Athletes First

Justin Fields officially declared for the NFL Draft earlier this week, and now he has signed for representation with an agency. Fields has signed for representation with Athletes First and agent David Mulugheta, who also reps Deshaun Watson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Growing up, my ream was to one day play the game that I love at the highest level," Fields said earlier this week. "Now thanks to God's grace and mercy, along with the help of you all, I am in a position to turn that dream into a reality. And for that reason, I am foregoing my senior year and declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft."

Just sayin': He signed with an agent.

WATCH: Justin Fields releases NFL Draft training video

After this past Sunday's Super Bowl LV ended with a 31-9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the attention immediately turned to the 2021 NFL Draft. Justin Fields, who is expected to be a top pick among the available quarterbacks, shared an update on his preparation Tuesday.

Fields took to Twitter with a 38-second video that showed him training for the April 29 draft at Proactive Sports Performance in Santa Ana, California. With "Too Comfortable" by Future playing in the background, Fields goes through a series of workouts.

Wearing an Athletes First shirt, the agency he signed with Jan. 21, Fields bench presses and swings rope, among other exercises. A full look at what he does can be seen in the embedded clip below.

He has Trevor Lawrence from Clemson going No. 1 overall to Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars, he has Zach Wilson from BYU going No. 2 to the New York Jets and he has Trey Lance from North Dakota State going No. 3 to the Carolina Panthers (who would trade up with the Miami Dolphins in that scenario).

Here is what McShay wrote about Fields:

Atlanta is going to want to move out of this spot and pick up some extra draft capital, and there will likely be plenty of interest from other teams. It needs reinforcements at edge, offensive line, running back, tight end and linebacker. Quarterback, however, is not a dire situation, as Matt Ryan is still highly productive and under contract through 2023. But if the Falcons can't trade out, will they really pass on the opportunity to draft their QB of the future? It's no given that they will be drafting this high again any time soon, and Ryan is turning 36.

There are some consistency concerns, but Fields will be a talented NFL starter with an ability to drive the ball and make plays off-schedule outside of the pocket. In two seasons as the Buckeyes' starter, he has 63 touchdown passes and just nine interceptions. If it plays out like this, it would be the first time that quarterbacks have gone 1-2-3-4 to begin Round 1.

Just sayin': It is hard to believe that Fields would be the 4th QB taken.

So here’s the thing, I can’t say that Justin Fields is going to be an elite NFL quarterback, just like I can’t say if Trevor Lawrence will be either. There are just too many variables to guarantee anything in pro football. However, one thing that I do know for sure is that Fields is generationally talented, he has a reputation of being a serious and studious worker both on the field and in the film room, and that he has every skill that any NFL franchise would want in a rookie QB.

Is he a perfect, finished product as a quarterback? Far from it. Is racism the only reason that people are questioning is ability to make the jump to the league? Of course not. But not only have I seen nothing from him as a Buckeye that would indicate to me that he is incapable of being an All-Pro in the NFL, but I’ve also seen plenty of proof that he is exceedingly likely to continue to work to become the best QB that he possibly can. And anybody flapping their gums to tell you that he doesn’t have the intelligence, vision, “It” factor, or whatever other garbage that they want to spew in order to make it as a pro is straight up telling you everything that you ever need to know about them.

My love-hate relationship with the absurdity of scouts continues:
“The only workable comparison for Fields’ dual-threat ability is 90% of Cam Newton. For a player of his density and height to be as explosive and physical of a runner, while also representing a threat to launch a 60-yard bomb at any time, is ludicrous. It is also extremely stressful on a defense.”
You have to really twist yourself into a projection knot to justify that first sentence. Cam is an absolute tank, and you can run QB power at both levels with him. You should not run it with Justin at either level. That does not mean he's anything short of the greatest dual threat talent OSU has ever seen, and has the talent to surpass Cam's NFL success (which was considerable). It just means he's very different from Cam Newton.

Terrelle Pryor was 90% of Cam Newton, or at least 80-85%. Justin isn't similar at all in terms of his style or skillset when things break down.

The fact that Justin can also uncork a laser to anywhere on the move does not justify this very questionable comparison.

Preface: I do not agree with him.

With that said, since he’s been doing these he’s been pretty accurate. He missed on Daniel Jones, but he acknowledged that. I don’t think he’s looking for attention.
he’s gonna miss on Mond too... mond at #4 is something amazing...
