QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

Ohio StateOL inside having trouble more so with line calls then the physical. Use JF to help Myers get the calls right.

I had basically the same observation, and just posted this in another thread:

Just sayin': Only 8 guys have graded out as champions in all 3 games.

QB JUSTIN FIELDS
RT NICHOLAS PETIT-FRERE
LT THAYER MUNFORD

WR GARRETT WILSON
TE LUKE FARRELL
TE JEREMY RUCKERT
DT TOMMY TOGIAI
LB TUF BORLAND
DE JONATHON COOPER

Just sayin': At the beginning of the season most people thought the strength of the offensive line was the 3 inside (i.e. guards and center) guys, So far, it could very well be the 2 outside (i.e. tackles) guys.

Place your bets.....

After another near-perfect performance against Rutgers, Fields is now the betting favorite to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy.

Fields now has +150 odds to win college football's most prestigious individual award according to BetOnline.ag, ahead of Alabama's Mac Jones at +175 and Clemson's Trevor Lawrence at +250.

While Fields leads the Heisman Trophy race, Ohio State also has the second-best odds to win the national championship at +200, behind only Alabama at +175.

BEHOLD, YOUR KING. The rest of college football had a few week's head start, but it's safe to say Justin Fields has caught up.

Let's be real though, this is expected. I'd be flipping tables if the guy with 908 passing yards and 11 touchdowns and an 86.7 completion percentage wasn't college football's highest-graded quarterback.

And you can go ahead and tack a fat asterisk onto that completion percentage.

Edit: Added another article.

Obviously, Justin is having a hell of a year and is super fun to watch. I think his pocket awareness is improving but the biggest thing I have noticed so far is his touch passes, he is putting touch on the ball when he needs to and is incredibly accurate. That corner route to Garrett Wilson for a TD in the 2nd quarter was straight up a thing of beauty. The spiral on that ball...damn is it pretty to watch.

The mistakes are between the tackles, not handling stunts, a gap blitzes and the nose tackle.

I'd just be a touch cautious about blaming sacks/pressure on interior line. There have been some breakdowns, yes. But Justin also sits in pocket a touch long and eats sacks he could avoid, if we're being fair.

I think Demario is actually a blitz neutralizer, in that he's such a good receiver out of backfield. It's not a coincidence that as Rutgers was blitzing the shit out of us, DeMario diced them for 40 yards in 2 plays.

The interesting thing to follow will be how they get Demario on the field without giving up the playcall/strategy. I'd like to see more Demario in backfield than less though, to be honest. He's a legit weapon. I just get concerned, his base package is so limited, at a certain point defenses know exactly what to expect when he's in. Which is why more PT, with a wider set of plays, makes him even more dangerous, IMO.

I'm getting to the point where I'm totally shocked when there's an incomplete pass or the play doesnt get a first/touch down. It's so surreal and funny as hell that he can do what he's doing and make it look effortless.

I haven't had this much confidence in a QB since I started watching my favorite NFL player ever, Dan Marino. Not even kidding

I think the staff sees him as a 4 th quarter player. Maybe they can groom one of the freshman wideouts into that role.

“Of course, the [numbers] are a little bit crazy. I didn’t expect them to be what they are now, but I think it’s definitely not surprising based on the way I worked in the offseason. So, I just think from all the work I’ve put in and all the time I’ve spent watching film, it’s paying off right now.

“The craziest? I would have to go with more touchdowns than incompletions, for sure. That’s the craziest one.”

There are plenty to choose from at this point in the season, and a suspect Maryland defense could have offered yet another opportunity for Fields to build his case as the new odds-on favorite to win the Heisman before that game was cancelled on Wednesday.

Where to begin? Fields has thrown for over 300 yards per game against nothing but Big Ten opponents. He’s completing throws at an absurd clip of 87 percent — with several on-target drops actually causing that number to dip lower than it should be. And Fields is barely even scratching the surface of his dual-three ability, rarely using his legs as a rushing threat and only scoring twice on the ground so far this season.

The scary truth is that Fields only appears to be getting better.

“Of course I see [Heisman conversations] on social media, but at the end of the day, if I don’t continue what I’m doing even this week or next week, all that talk will be a moot point,” Fields said. “I’m not really focused on that. I’m just focused on staying consistent, just keeping the same routine and going out there and doing my best each and every play.

“You just have to prioritize what goals are more important to you. I think our team goals are first on my list, because I think people look at that at a different level. There are things with team goals and things you can accomplish as a team that make it hard to [evaluate] with numbers, like leadership and stuff like that. You can’t put that on a piece of paper and rate that. Team goals and accomplish those, winning games, I think people look at that differently.”

The Buckeyes have known all along that this was a possibility, and they can’t let one midseason cancellation distract them from their own focus on staying healthy and continuing to prepare for the rest of their games. Ohio State still practiced on Wednesday even after the game cancellation was announced, and it’s a safe bet that Day and the rest of the staff will put even more emphasis on staying safe over the next few days now that they know their players will have some unexpected free time this weekend.
