QB Joe Burrow (transfer to LSU, 2019 Heisman Winner, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I know it's for a great cause.....but explain how this is different than a kid getting a plane ticket for his girlfriend or an Olympic skiier taking endorsement money.
They're exploiting Joe without compensation while others to benefit. It's right in the NCAA, wheelhouse except this time the beneficiaries are the most needy instead of the richest.

Joe simply illuminated this cause. I salute him for it.

I can only hope people will also understand the problem with malnourishment and animal abuse that occurs in Athens and Vinton counties. I’ve personally adopted dogs from that area that deserve a better life and better hoomans. The horses aren’t treated much better. I’d rescue the horses if I could, but I don’t make that kind of scratch.

It’s really bad.

Lots of kids aren't treated much better.

I live in SE Ohio. Did some foster parenting. Adopted a couple of my foster kids. People who can't manage to take care of their kids will try to have animals as well. Opioids have made it all the worse, but I'm out of the fostering business now.

Have a rescue dog from Athens County, but I'm pretty sure she was one of the many dogs that are abandoned by OU students when they leave Athens for the summer.

Go, Joe, sure - but I'm praying Oklahoma beats them. It will be bonkers around here if the NC is OSU/LSU.

Ohio hometown to honor Heisman winner with Joe Burrow Stadium

After giving an impassioned speech about his hometown while accepting the Heisman Trophy, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow will have his high school football stadium in Athens, Ohio, named after him.

The Athens City School District Board of Education announced Thursday that it has directed its superintendent and the Athens High School administration to change the name to Joe Burrow Stadium in recognition of his achievements.

Along with the stadium honor this week, Burrow also received his master's degree in liberal arts from LSU on Friday.

Burrow was voted Ohio Mr. Football for 2014-15 and Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013-14 and 2014-15 before starting his career at Ohio State. After serving as a backup for three years, he moved to LSU as a graduate transfer and started the past two seasons.
