Kurelic: Jack Miller is back; WIAH on a DE and top freshman

1) Scottsdale (Az.) Chaparral 2020 quarterback and Ohio State commitment Jack Miller is back. I wrote recently that Miller had recovered from a strain of the right side latissimus dorsi muscle. The injury kept Miller from competing at The Opening Finals in early July.
Now as early August is upon us, Miller is back on the field and throwing well with his Chaparral team. He can be seen putting the ball on the money in the Tweet below.
Chaparral was having a great 2018 season until Miller went down with an injury and did not get to play in the state playoffs. The Chaparral 2019 team will be missing some solid seniors from last year and will be a little young, but their offensive line is bigger and should be better than a year ago. Depth might be a bit of an issue as Chaparral has about 150 kids in the program and some of the teams they will play have in the neighborhood of 300, but there is enough talent led by Miller that Chaparral should make the playoffs again.
Miller played in eight games during his junior season. He finished the 2018 season with 141 completions in 256 attempts for 2,431 yards. Miller connected for 27 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Miller averaged throwing for 304 yards per game and had a quarterback rating of 112.9. He was on pace to break the school and conference record for passing yards in a season as well as touchdowns until he went down with a high-grade 3.0 MCL sprain.
For his career the three-year varsity starter has thrown for 7,819 yards and 100 touchdowns. He has rushed for 1,200 yards with 12 touchdowns with a career quarterback rating of 115.2.
Miller has breaking the state of Arizona passing and touchdown passes record squarely in sight. He is on pace going into his senior season to go over the 11,000 career passing yards.
The 6-foot-4 and 215-pound Miller is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 176 overall prospect, the No. 6 pro-style quarterback and the No. 5 prospect in Arizona.

Ohio State’s quarterback of the future, Jack Miller, has something to prove during his senior season. His arm suffered at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge, and he was unable to throw during the Elite 11 Finals in Frisco. His team hasn’t quite gotten over the hump during his career there, and last year, he suffered a knee injury that kept him out for a few weeks toward the end of the season. But the recovery he has gone through this offseason was all done with one thing in mind – being able to compete with his teammates during his final year.
First Game: vs. Hamilton, Aug. 23
Game to Watch: vs. Saguaro, Sept. 20
Any team in Arizona that plays against Saguaro will have it marked on its calendar, and Jack Miller is no different. Chaparral kept it close against the powerhouse program but lost, 45-37. Seeing how Miller and his offense schemes a plan against No. 1 2020 cornerback Kelee Ringo will be one of the most interesting matchups in the country in 2019.
