QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

The stats are a direct result of Meyer's system...not exactly the first of Meyer's QBs to fill the stat sheet.

And I'd challenge the view that he's played that much better the last five weeks. The weakness of our opponents completely hides many issues, the biggest one being his lateness on throws and unwillingness to throw it unless a guy is wide open.

I know I come off as a hater on the kid, but I assure you that no one is rooting for him more than me. I hope I'm wrong in my judgments.

Incredibly, the couple of articles I've seen this morning don't have him there. Most still have Barkley on top, proving how powerful the media narrative really is. Barkley is a great player, but in his team's biggest game, he was totally absent in cruch time, managing NEGATIVE yardage in the 4th quarter. Meanwhile, the "other guy", played a nearly flawless game and took over inncrunch time. You want statistics? Barrett has them.

This is comedy:

Barrett fifth behind Barkley, Love, Mayfield, and friggin' Adams of ND. Frankly, the Hisman has been a joke for a long time. It's not a competition based on merit, it's a popularity contest. If JT keeps playing and we keep winning, maybe he overcomes this, but it's difficult. The media often picks the winner within the first three weeks of the season, and that's almost impossible to overcome.
Jabrill Peppers won B1G LB and B1G defensive player of the year, rendering all awards meaningless forever.

Re-watching yesterday's game - I'm at the 2:09 left mark, right after JT hit Hill to take it down to the 15. Biggest thing that stands out is how JT is now leading his receivers instead of holding onto it a touch longer and then delivering it to where they already are. A couple misfires, but he's putting the ball right where it needs to be and making things easy on his WRs in a way he just hadn't been until this stretch where he's dialed things in. Unbecked, indeed. It's really night and Day (see what I did there?). Can't wait to see this thing through.
