QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

Very positive notes about JT from Herman. Though he doesn't have the arm strength of the other 2 QBs, I believe accuracy can be even more important. JT doesn't need to sling the ball 50yds down the field, if he can find guys open in space then were good. With the weapons he'd have assembled around him, he can just get the ball to the skill players and let them do their thing.

Bottom line is none of our other QBs have the running ability that Braxton has. The next best thing for a QB to have to compensate is good running ability, good decision making, and great accuracy. If he can facilitate to our 5-8 guys that can hit it big our QB doesn't have to run a 4.3 40

I think he is the better decision maker and the more accurate of the back ups. Personally I'm shocked he is not the back up.

Really everything Herman said tracks what I saw in J.T.'s HS film. The leadership is something you don't see on film, so I'm glad he possesses that. I think Cardale has a cannon but needs to reign in the accuracy...and really, Cardale is a fantastic runner. J.T. can certainly run but I think Cardale is undoubtedly a better runner and has more physicality (ala Cam Newton running people over). But really, we have so many weapons that down the road we basically just need a distributor of the ball who does not make mistakes and can be a game manager. Really I just described Kenny Guiton but I am sure we will be fine with that

You may have described Kenny Guiton, but it took Mr. Guiton until his final 2yrs to be effective. Jt could actually have a bigger impact on the program as the light seems to have gone on a lighter earlier than Guitons. Though Guiton was a rock to the team due to his leadership, his play was always going to be relegated to a backup capacity and he didn't have the talent to much more than that. Barrett has the ability to start in another year and lead by his play and be in the heart of QB battles for the foreseeable future.
