QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CJ Stroud land signature collectors card deals

Jaxon Smith-Njigba and CJ Stroud are getting a sweet collectors card deal to be released on Friday.

Wednesday morning, collector card company Onyx Authenticated revealed a set of 4 custom cards for the Ohio State duo. In addition to standard editions, Onyx Authenticated is also selling autographed versions and versions with bases for display.

The set of 4 cards includes red, white and black backgrounds for each athlete and the fourth card is dedicated to the home state of Stroud and Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba’s pays homage to his Texas roots with the state flag in the background while Stroud’s has a nice California backdrop.

Enough of this poppycock about CJ needing to run the ball more. The more he runs the ball, the more chance he has of getting hurt, no? I get that he could get tagged if the OL lets some bruiser get by, and yeah, it'll happen five times this season (prognostication). But considering that CJ is kinda the main cog of the offense, would suggest that he do what he does best, and that's throw the football. Agree that if we're looking at third and short (you build your own situation) and the WRs have taken everybody outside, he could find the crease for a first down, he should go for it. But that's what you have running backs for. All I'm saying is that this whole #1 offense in the country thing is predicated on having CJ at QB, and to risk him to pile up Heisman points is probably not in tOSU's interest. Not knocking our two back-up QBs, from what little I've seen, they look pretty competent, but they're not CJ.

Yes, I'm aware of the back-up history of tOSU, where 12-guage led us to the 2014 National Championship as a third stringer. His skillset was what was needed, as I'm not convinced that JT Barrett could have thrown for what, three TDs over the Bama safeties. And that my friends was the difference in the game. In 2002, our QB wasn't a runner, but racked up almost 100 yards (?) - certainly not expected to run, and Miami's D was caught flat-footed, in leading tOSU to the 2002 Nati. I'm sounding like a Harvard MBA, can argue both sides equally well, but cannot make a decision. tOSU has a better chance to win a Nati with CJ throwing, not running.....Go Bucks!

First, I agree that he do what he does best. And I stand on the side of, "Stop bitching that he isn't running like Barrett or Fields - he threw for 400+ yards a million times last year." But I can see how frustrating it is that he scrambled out of trouble on 3rd and 5, and all he has to do is run it - he's got 10 yards before the next defender. Run it and step out of bounds. Get the easy first down. But he'd pull it back and throw it - usually for the better, from my memory. Give up the easy 8-yard run but complete a 15-yard pass. So.... there's my two cents.

Second, it was 81 yards. (Why do I know that?) I'd say that 81 yards is "almost 100 yards" - I'm not really correcting you, I'm just pointing out that I have that one stat in my head.

Craig Krenzel was the QB, and glad for the correction. He took some hits against Miami that I wouldn't have thought Mike Tyson could get up from, but went back to the huddle and did it again. One of the more memorable games in Buckeye history. PS, the ? means I'm not entirely certain of the number.

Ohio State football: C.J. Stroud has improved as leader, Kirk Herbstreit says

“C.J. Stroud, from talking to Ryan Day, one area as a first-year starter he wasn’t necessarily a demonstrative leader," Herbstreit said Thursday on SportsCenter. "I think now, in this offseason and over the summer, they’ve really seen him take big steps in that area, which I think is an important part of his development.”
