QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

I agree with this. I see a kid with an immensely talented arm and I have zero idea about his mobility. As much as I have enjoyed the passing game when it’s working, if I’m making a selection for a first round who should be a franchise level player, I don’t know that I’m a buyer. The OL you’d have to put in front of him in the NFL would cost a fortune.
The Lions have the OL but will probably be too low in the draft to get him due to Baker winning. So probably Houston or Denver and yeah .. also the Lions might have actually convinced themselves that Goff is the future so I'm not 100% sure they'd draft him if he was there.

TBH, with the mobility he’s shown to date, he should be available by the time the Lions pick… unless you’re picking for a team who is dedicated to the long game. If he sits a couple of years while a shitty team builds the infrastructure for him to be successful, things could get ugly for him.

Hell, just look at the shut show that is Chicago… and Justin can run.

I pray the best for him, but he needs to learn how to pick up yards with his legs and get the fuck down before he gets to the next level. Who knows, he may have that in his bag and we just don’t see it, but I can’t imagine that we’ve not seen what he’s capable of in the last two years.

He's still the 1st or 2nd QB drafted depending on Bryce Youngs Height and Medical. None of those might matter if he goes off Rose Bowl style in the Playoffs.

He's more accurate and makes quicker reads than Fields. He's somewhat athletic but not great throwing on the run but has a Plus arm. Plus whatever he gets dinged for about Day running the check with me system.

I don't see him dropping out too far out of the top 5 and doubtful out of the top 10 unless the draft starts taking crazy pills. He's definitely not going to fall asleep far as Kenny Pickett

The interview process will determine his draft status. He has the arm and measurables. How he answers questions about his mobility and is he a workaholic or plays on talent (Kyler) will be telling.
Not only that but he makes multiple NFL window throws a game. Which is something our other QBs were knocked for. Throwing to to people who were consistently open by yards.

Several mocks have him at 3rd behind Young and Levis now.
Still should put him ~10 in the draft.

Any mock that has him behind Levis is Laughable. Levis is all projection at this point.

He has all the physical talent and size to be Josh Allen. But as an actual functional QB yesh. He's Terrell Pryor. Well maybe better than that but Terrell Pryor wouldn't likely be a 1st round pick in today's NFL

Having watched half dozen games of Levis' already with the intent of watching every single one of his throws, I can promise you your take is far too dismissive. To the point where I've considered if Will might actually be the best QB in this class.

His mobility isn't good. It's not only that he doesn't run for yards, he doesn't have good pocket mobility.

Levis is light years ahead in the NFL right now. He can run. CJ is probably a late first at best. Will Levis, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Cam Ward, and maybe even Stetson Bennett are all ahead of him. If CJ could run he might be the best prospect since Luck, but without the running I don't see much of a point in him continuing to play QB. Maybe he could switch to WR where he'd be forced to run.

I hope this is sarcasm. Cause Despite the renaissance of running QBs this ain't it bro.

And as far as Levis I went back and watched 3 games highlights every throw or at least I think so. He's better then I remember. He had some plus NFL throws. But he's high and hard a lot and made a lot of his hay on short throws in one of the games. Forced a few arm puts deep.

He was good at the checkdown though and getting there which will allow him to live in the NFL and not become a crash test dummy. But he doesn't make nearly as many wow throws as CJ or Bryce. Now Bryce sometimes makes wow throws cause he missed the easy play earlier ran around a bit and made a crazy play after though.

CJ will be a. Great systems player. He doesn’t make the off schedule plays. You know the QBs that do.

I don't want to be seen to be bashing Stroud. He makes impressive throws and may find success in the pros, but I just don't think that he would be willing to commit to leading a team to victory by putting it all on the line. If he is drafted by a team with a poor offensive line, then I don't rate his odds for NFL longevity very high. I hope that I am wrong.
