Good point. Cardale and Herman were said to have grown very close.

He beat out JT in the spring. Cardale was #2 heading into fall camp.

Jones never beat out Barrett. Barrett started off behind him by virtue of his HS knee injury and subsequent redshirt. Barrett closed the gap and overtook him.

The offense NEVER ran smoothly with Braxton at QB. JT should be the starter and it really isn't close in my opinion. Cardale and JT are both better QBs for this offense than Braxton.

The offense never ran smoothly? I won't begrudge your QB preference, but that's just plain wrong.
