Speaking of bad takes...a lot of those Chargers teams were fucking loaded on both sides of the ball.
I think it was 2009, Rivers had the best offense and defense in the league, and still couldn’t do much.
Would love to see the Chargers give Jones a shot, but they’ll probably cut him and hang on to Stick.

My suspicion is that they like Stick enough to want to see what he's got in the long term, even though Cardale seems to be clearly better now, are afraid that he might not clear waivers to be put on the practice squad and are throwing out a trial balloon on Cardale to see what they can get in a trade for him. If nobody bites, I think they'll keep Cardale and take a chance on Stick not clearing waivers.
