QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

and just because

I count a solid 4 yards of backward carry for Collins

Landon Collins looked as stunned on getting rammed over by Cardale as he did at his mom's reaction to his commitment...

It's a great spot to land in... but the fact that he's being traded for a conditional 7th rounder one year after being a 4th round draft pick doesn't speak well to his implied value across the league.

To me it speaks more to the ineptness of the Bills, who were just trying to get anything they could for him, after a full coaching/GM change and drafting another QB this year. Cardale was going to be cut otherwise.

Okay so I gotta ask . . . What if he does it again? Is there a BP_Sportsbook bet on this? Are there any Vegas odds? How many QB's have won a championship in the NFL and the NCAA coming off the bench for a play-off run? Has anyone? Let me be clear that I am not wishing any injury to happen to a guy for this scenario to happen. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think of a few ways for it to happen. If that makes me a sick bastard I apologize. In my defense Gus Johnson called the the game in my head and it was incredible.

The closest thing to that that I can remember is........

In the 1990 season for the New York Giants, Phil Simms went down in the week 14th regular season game and Jeff Hostettler went on to win the last 2 regular season games and the 3 post season games including Super Bowl XXV.

7 backup quarterbacks have led their team to Super Bowl victory

JEFF HOSTETLER, 1990

Not only did Jeff Hostetler knock off the wildly favored Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV, he also had to overcome Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game after Phil Simms broke his foot. Hostetler did both, while wearing an incredible mustache ...:gagnam:... before Movember was even a thing.

For those that don't remember (under the close but no cigar situation) 1965 there was the Tom Matte QBing the Baltimore Colts. The Colts ended the season winning the consolation game:

In Case Of Emergency: Running Back Tom Matte's 3 Games As NFL Quarterback

It wasn’t the first time Tom Matte had been asked to play quarterback. At Ohio State, coach Woody Hayes had decided that his running back might be more useful under center. The running back didn’t agree.
.
.
.
"I’m saying, 'Oh, my god. Don’t tell me I have to play quarterback,'" he says. "And I get in the huddle, and the whole offensive line sort of looks at me and says, 'Good luck, Matte.'"

Matte had a couple of coaches who designed a game plan based on what he could do. He handed off a lot. He ran a lot. And because he was no Johnny Unitas, he didn’t pass much. And his coaches also came up with an innovation to help him remember the plays.

"And Don McCafferty says, 'Hey,' and Shula said this, he says, 'Hey, listen, why don’t you put a wristband on, and we’ll signal to you which play we want you to call?' and all this kind of stuff. And I say, 'OK.' It was a wristband with a little plastic cover, so if it got wet, nothing would happen. And I had all the plays written on it," Matte says. "But who wrote the plays on it, but my wife. She could print smaller than I could, so we had it all printed out."
